NO.1 table tennis review site

I used Booster SA for a long time in the past. When I heard SA was being discontinued and its successor JP was coming out, I tried it as soon as it was released.
The feel on contact is soft, and while the speed and spin don't quite stand out as exceptional, I'd say they're at a high level (with my style of play, I didn't get much in the way of knuckle balls). It's also on the lighter side, so it's easy to maneuver. On the other hand, the way the ball comes off the rubber is quite unique compared to conventional short pips. Maybe the easiest way to picture it is something like a spin-oriented tension rubber. Of course it's not actually like a real spin-oriented tension rubber, but the ball comes off at a fairly steep upward angle, so there were times the ball went higher than I expected. Since the switch to plastic balls has made short pips shots drop more than before, I can see this might be a way of compensating for that, but honestly, until you get used to the trajectory, I think it's a bit hard to use. That said, thanks to this upward-arcing trajectory, I think it would suit players who attack earlier off the bounce, or players transitioning from inverted rubber.

The sheet peeled off just a month and a half after I bought it.
I've never seen a rubber come apart that fast.
The performance is more than good enough, so I just wish they could do something about the quality control.

What's great about this short pips rubber is that it still grips the ball and spins. On top of being able to put topspin, backspin, and sidespin on the ball, you can also produce knuckle balls. It's got decent speed too, and both returns and serves are easy to control, so I think it's easy to use even for beginners.

Even though it's short pips, it grips the ball and spins, so it feels a lot like inverted rubber, but the ball speed is really fast. You need to close the racket angle a bit or it'll go long.

Suited to a short-pips player who likes to hit aggressively all the time. Works well on a penhold forehand or a forehand short pips setup. On the backhand, attacking is good but defense is difficult. It's good at hitting flat but not so good at stopping the ball, so its strengths and weaknesses are very clear-cut, which makes it unsuited for someone looking for balance. It's a rubber with a sharp, distinct personality that suits players who like high-risk play. This is the first time I've seen a spin-oriented short pips put this much emphasis on power.
Strengths
- The ball is fast
- Attacking shots like flicks, meet shots, and drives go in with real snap
- It has good distance on it, so you can hit even from mid-distance (even the thick version bounces like SA's max-thickness)
- Serves get good bite
Weaknesses
- The ball's trajectory is clean and easy for the opponent to read
- Hard to produce knuckle balls
- Lots of overshoot mistakes
- Hard to block (hard to stop)
- Lots of inexplicable mistakes, making it hard to gauge how much power to put into shots

I borrowed a friend's and hit it holding a shakehand blade penhold-style, so take this as just a reference. Used the thick version.
It produces a pretty clean ball, quite close to inverted rubber.
Compared to SA, the ball leaves the rubber faster and flies more, so I felt that if you use it as penhold short pips, you need to pair it with a wood blade. My impression was that you need to close the racket face quite a bit or the ball won't land in.
For hitting down from above, it produces a fast ball, so that felt good.
That said, compared to SA, it doesn't produce knuckle balls. You can't expect your opponent to net it - it comes back to you normally.
Since it's easier for you to land your shots, the return you get back isn't as nasty, so I'd say this suits a shakehand backhand more than penhold.
If you're switching over from a tension-style inverted rubber, I think you'll find it easy to handle.
