High quality defensive blades have always been a strength of JOOLA. Now in conjunction with Chen Weixing, world ranked 14, a new blade is launched which is designed for the modern defensive player. It is fast enough to play powerful topspin shots but still with control for chop play. This is achieved by a special twin black/cloth layer between the koto and kiri plys.

The artist, Chen Weixing is totally enthused with this new JOOLA blade. "I can safely play strong forehand loop shots from half distance with great feeling and high speed but at the same time play secure backhand chops at the necessary length to force my opponent into mistakes."

Honestly, this isn't suited for anyone who wants to play like Chen Weixing. This blade leans more toward defense. If you want to play like Chen Weixing, something like the Matsushita Koji Offensive or Joo Se-hyuk model would be better. That said, it does pair well with long pips, so there's no doubt it's a good blade for choppers!

      Player reviews

It's got a special material in it, but it doesn't fly all that much.
This is purely meant to soften the feel on contact, so I don't think you should expect it to boost your attacking power.
In particular, if you're someone who admires Chen Weixing's playing style, this might not be a great recommendation for you...

That said, as I mentioned, the feel on contact is really good, and it's easy to keep powerful drives and smashes under control.

As for a similar blade, I'd say something like the Kouji Matsushita.
If you're looking at stability for chopping, the Chen Weixing model might be better.

      As for rubber choices,
I'd recommend a tension rubber on the forehand.
It lets you keep chops, pushes, and drives stable.

If you want to prioritize spin over speed, I'd recommend putting on a tacky high-tension rubber.

For the backhand, I'd recommend pips or anti-spin. It lets you produce backhand chops with tackiness and variation.

That said, this might just be because I'm not very skilled, but short pips didn't seem to be a great match.
I think it's perfect for learning defensive skills like handling overspin, tackiness, curve long serves, and so on.

      (Experience: 2〜3 years) Good

      Player reviews

Personally, this is the best racket. The balance between offense and defense is great - chops can hold up even against hard hits, and attacking shots still carry a decent amount of power. What really stands out is the ball feeling. Thanks to the Black Cross construction, the sweet spot is wide, and the control is so good you can hit the ball exactly where you intend. I think it pairs well with harder rubbers. It's not an especially bouncy blade, so I'd suggest a German tension rubber or a tacky tension rubber on the forehand, and variation-focused long pips on the backhand - that gives you a nice combination of speed, spin, and control.

The shots come out pretty slow. You can still play offense normally though. I'd recommend putting inverted rubber on the forehand and long pips on the backhand. I don't think short pips suit it very well.
