Vega China from Xiom: The combination of sticky surface top sheet with extremely hard sponge has been a key weapon for China to dominate the modern table tennis world. But the uncomfortable truth is that unhealthy external chemicals like speed glue are required to balance out the proper elasticity from these hard rubbers. With world renowned Tensor Bios technology, the hard sponge on Vega China has been softened to reach the proper elasticity.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
This rubber is characterized by excellent spin performance and a hard sponge, establishing itself as a difficult-to-use rubber for advanced players. It receives high praise from cutters and spin-focused players, though opinions on control and speed performance are divided.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Superior spin performance achieving high rotation comparable to sticky rubber
    • Unique ball feel with hard sponge and soft sheet combination
    • Excellent for defensive techniques such as cutting and pushing
    • Requires adaptation time for users transitioning from tension rubbers
    • Difficult for beginners; strongly suited for advanced players
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveDrives hit solidly with excellent spin that lands reliably on the opponent's court. Hard and heavy, making it recommendable for powerful players as an excellent rubber.
▽ CriticalDoesn't bounce at all, and cutting loses spin without enough rebound. There's a dilemma where pushing shots lose rotation, making it difficult for cutters to use effectively.

      Excellence (Experience: 4〜5 years)

      Reviews by user

The good point about this rubber is that it's easy to generate spin and easy to control, so I'd recommend it for the backhand side.
The bad point is that speed is hard to get, and since the rubber itself is hard, it's a little hard to hit with.
I think it suits people who are choppers, or people who are trying to become choppers. It generates a massive amount of spin, so it's my top recommendation for choppers.

      Reviews by user

      It's pretty hard.
But as you improve, it becomes incredibly easy to use.
It generates a ton of spin.

Table tennis club member D (Experience: 4〜5 years) Hmm

      Reviews by user

It generates a ton of spin.
As for speed, the tacky quality probably kept it from showing up well in machine measurements, but my impression is that it kicks off more than the numbers suggest.
That said, it's more of a kick than a true bounce, so I felt that Hurricane would suit tension rubber users better.
The weakness is control. Even on a smash off a high ball that should easily go in, it didn't produce satisfying power and didn't go where I aimed.

Money! violence! S ○ X! (Experience: Less than a year) Not good, not bad

      Reviews by user

I bought this as my second rubber when I was a beginner. It's hard, but it bounces more than Hurricane and gives you speed.
I'd recommend it for someone who mainly chops.

      Desolation (Experience: 2〜3 years) Difficult

      Reviews by user

It's a bit hard to handle. I switched blades partway through, and I think it's hard if the blade is stiff. Personally I think a medium-hardness blade is best. It doesn't bounce much though. The good points are
      - it generates spin
      The bad points are
      - it generates spin but it's inconsistent
      - the short game is difficult
      - it's easily affected by the opponent's spin
that's how it felt to me personally.
I think it suits players who want to confuse their opponent with spin and score points that way.
I don't think it's suited to rallies or lobbing from mid-distance.
For topspin drives, you need to really sink the ball into the sponge, and for smashes I felt you need good swing speed. Also, countering is a bit difficult. It feels like it goes long a lot. If you're going to put it on, I think the forehand is better. Lastly, it's not suited to someone using a tacky rubber for the first time.

I think it's a rubber that's easy to push and block with. Surprisingly, it also pairs well with long pips.

Ryuki (Experience: 4〜5 years) Very good!

      Reviews by user

Everyone else seems kind of lukewarm on it, saying it's hard to use, but... I found it really easy to use.
The sponge is very hard so the ball-holding feel is pretty poor, but if you put it on an Acoustic blade, the ball-holding really improves!
Also, if you want even more ball-holding, putting short pips or long pips on the other side helps too!
      The serves really bite.
The short game is easy too. Once you get into an exchange, I thought you could pull off all kinds of techniques, like looping or hitting flat.

Among tacky tension rubbers, I think it's the best!

Why not try Vega China with a short pips rubber on an Acoustic yourself?
