All new for 2015 is the Nittaku Fastarc P-1! Solely designed for the polyurethane ball, this rubber has the best of all worlds from Nittaku's most popular and best selling rubber series - the Fastarc! Designed for close, mid & far distance play from the table it has the same soft strong sponge that has made the Fastarc Series of rubbers a fast, spinny and powerful rubber yet easy to control. The sponge uses the same medium hardness as the Fastarc G-1 but is super lightweight at 37.5 degrees. The pimple diameter is the same as the Fastarc S-1 and the gap between the pimples is slightly larger than the Fastarc C-1. The Nittaku Fastarc P-1 is for the player that wants to create spin, speed, power & precision while creating artistic shots!

I have this on my forehand at max thickness.
Personally, I think it's a really good rubber.
Compared to a friend's G1, it falls a bit short in some areas, but I think it's very good once you learn to use it.
Just be careful, since loop drives tend to drop off with this one.

Very easy to use on the backhand. Backhand drives are easy to hit. It's easy to vary between speed drives and loop drives. It grips the ball well and is easy to control, plus it generates a lot of spin. Mixing speed drives with loop drives made my opponents' blocks either sail long or crash straight into the net, and my backhand drive became a real scoring shot. It's also easy to stop the ball with. Blocks are surprisingly unaffected by the opponent's spin too. I think the lifespan is relatively long as well. That said, the topsheet is a bit soft, so on the forehand I feel like some power gets lost. For a while, P-1 looks like it'll stay on my backhand. I just wish it were a bit cheaper...

I don't know that much about equipment, so a junior teammate recommended this to me. Speed drives are very easy to hit with it. If you aim it well, it goes right past the opponent untouched. Topspin rallies and counters from mid to far distance are also very easy to pull off. That said, it tends to drop when you try to drive against backspin, so that part takes some skill.

Round (Experience: ６〜１０ years) A very good all-around rubber

P-1 is one of the faster rubbers in the Fastarc lineup, but even with its high speed it's easy to control. The rubber itself is firm, so unlike G-1 it rarely loses out to the opponent's spin. Since it's built for speed drives, the ball flies quite low. But you can also play it right from the short game, through close-to-the-table topspin rallies at mid distance, all the way to lobs from far off the table. On blocks and counters, you can stay in control while still returning the ball at tremendous speed without losing to your opponent's spin. I don't see many people around me using P-1, but depending on the player it can actually be a more impressive rubber than G-1, so if you're stuck choosing a rubber, it might be worth trying once!

My impression after hitting with it is that it's a bit similar to Fastarc G1. But when I hit a drive, it flies in more of a straight line than G1, so I felt it's more prone to net misses. Still, it lands deep on the table, so that's a plus in its own way. Also, since the topsheet is on the harder side, I think it suits players who compete more on speed than on spin. I hit a lot of loop drives, and the spin felt a bit weak. Because of that, it's generally easier for opponents to return, so I feel it would suit rally-style players. I also think it suits players who hit a straight trajectory or who prioritize speed. For me though, since I play a spin-heavy game on the forehand, it wasn't quite the right fit.

Let me quickly compare this to G1. First, compared to G1 the trajectory is more straight-line, so it catches the net a bit more easily. Also, because the trajectory is so straight, it's harder to lift backspin balls. If I had to name a point where it beats G1, I'd say the speed feels a little higher. It's soft, so I'd recommend it for the backhand side.

I bought this hoping it would make fast drives easy to hit. Honestly, G1 is overwhelmingly better. The power on counters is more than enough, but when you try to drive against backspin with heavy spin, it drops a lot. Because of that, you have to swing higher to compensate, which uses a huge amount of stamina. I don't think you can really use this in matches or practice unless you're tall or have a lot of stamina. That said, when it does land, the spin and the low trajectory can overwhelm your opponent. It's also very stable once a rally gets going. I think it's hard to use if you're the one attacking first, but it might suit players who like to win through rallies. It lasted about 2-3 months for me. Sorry for the long review.
