Up until now I was playing with
Forehand: Tenergy 25
Backhand: Rozena
but I switched to V15.
Good points
- Blocking is easy
- Countering is easy
- You get plenty of power
- Even if you're unsure about the opponent's serve, as long as you swing firmly it goes inBad points
- The short game is hard to execute
- Push shots are hard to control
- Serves are hard
- It's heavy
- If you don't swing firmly, the ball doesn't sink in (and you get none of the performance at all)That's the gist of it. Since it's heavy and you really need to swing hard to get the ball to sink in, I feel like people with a smaller build, less muscle, or junior high schoolers might struggle to handle it.
On the flip side, if you can manage all that, it becomes an incredibly reliable rubber!All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

I use this on my backhand and find it really easy to use. Since the rubber is a bit on the hard side, beginners might find it a little hard to handle since the ball bounces too much, but I think it suits intermediate-to-advanced players well. It grips the ball for spin and gives solid speed too, so if you're a close-to-the-table fast-attack type or a drive-oriented player, why not give it a try?

I used the max-thickness version on my forehand.
After using it, what struck me was how insane the power and spin are.
It pairs well and balances nicely with blades of any weight, light or heavy.
That said, this rubber is actually pretty extreme. The reason I say that is
unless you sink the ball in, it doesn't grip the ball strongly.
This rubber's strength comes from sinking the ball in and firing off powerful shots deep on the opponent's side of the table, overwhelming them — that's its selling point.
So without the skill of "sinking the ball into the rubber," I think it's hard to handle.
On top of that, this rubber is a bit on the hard side, so I think it's the hardest to use among the V15 series. [Though it could go the other way for some people.]
So if you're going to use this rubber, it's best suited to intermediate-to-advanced players who can sink the ball in.
If Extra is too hard to use, maybe try the Stiff version instead, since it offers more stability.

It seems like opinions on this rubber vary wildly depending on the player, but personally I felt the speed was quite high while the spin wasn't as amazing as I expected.
It flies quite a bit, so I think it takes some time before your short game stabilizes.
Rather than brushing the ball with the sheet, hitting it flat gave more speed, naturally picked up spin too, and produced a powerful ball.
The spin on serves felt like it wasn't there much, but it actually was.
It's hard and heavy, so I don't think it's a rubber that suits everyone, but in the hands of someone with power, it becomes a strong weapon.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Hard

I switched over from Tenergy. At first I wasn't used to it and couldn't get any spin, but
after using it for a few months, I got a feel for how to put spin on it, and now I can get good spin.
The third-ball attack off a serve left a really good impression!
The grip on the ball is solid, so you can really feel that the spin is taking.
Drives, smashes, serves, topspin rallies, blocks — it's perfect on all of these!
The feel changes depending on the blade, so I'd want people to find the feel they like and use that.

I used this on the backhand.
Normally I use Tenergy 05 or 05 Hard.
I glued it with Free Chack 2, and the weight was 50g — heavier than I expected.
This might partly be because I'm not used to it yet, but compared to the 05 series, the maximum spin you can get is higher with Tenergy or Dignics.
On the other hand, I felt the ball leaves the rubber faster and the trajectory is flatter.
Here are the points I felt were good compared to the 05 series:
- Blocking against drives from German-style rubbers
- Counter-driving after drawing the ball in
- Receive chiquitas
- Connecting shots and fish returns
Compared to 05 Hard, the quality of each individual ball inevitably drops a bit, but on the plus side, there was a reassuring feeling that even sloppy shots would still go in.
Of course, when you manage a strong hit properly, you get a stable, high-quality ball with plenty of spin and speed, and I felt that — a trait unique to German-style rubbers — you can produce balls with a wide range of spin variation on what looks like the same drive, almost like a knuckleball.
Also, since I use Dignics 05 on my forehand, I felt I could use the difference in ball quality between forehand and backhand as a weapon, which left a really good impression.
I strongly feel that for the average player, it's worth aiming for that synergy of using rubbers from different makers or different countries of manufacture on the forehand and backhand.

People often say V15 Extra is similar to G1, but I think they feel different.
When hitting flat, V15 Extra sinks the ball in better, and for me it let me hit consistently with a satisfying feel.
G1, on the other hand, doesn't sink the ball in as much, so I think it's better for people who prioritize power and speed.
To sum it up: if you want to hit consistently, go with V15 Extra;
if you prioritize speed, go with G1, I'd say.
