With the new Rakza PO Yasaka has developed a short pimpled out rubber. Offering increased spin capacity, due to the shape of the pimpled geometry and the use of more natural gum in the top sheet.

Among tension-type short pips rubbers, this one lets the ball sink in quite a lot.
Rather than having bigger pips or a mesh pattern, it feels like the spin comes more from that sinking-in feel. If your spin technique relies on sinking the ball into the sponge, I think this is very easy to use.As for speed, it falls a bit short of Booster or Impartial on soft shots, but on hard hits it flies just as far.
That said, I felt you need a fairly strong impact to produce fast shots. The feel is harder than the manufacturer states.
So I'd recommend it for players with a fast swing who can really drive through the ball on impact.

I play penhold with an irregular reverse-side style, close-to-the-table all-round. I was using Booster JP thick on my pips side and Super Do Knuckle super-thin on my reverse side, but I switched just the pips-side rubber to Rakza PO thick.
The reason is that it produces really nasty, unpredictable balls all over the place, and on top of that it still lets me drive and serve with good spin.
I was torn between 802-40 and Rakza PO, but so far I've been winning matches with it.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

I use this on forehand short pips.
First off, it's easy to generate spin, and the amount of spin feels relatively high. When you drive with it, you get a nice solid arc. At the same time, it can also produce those knuckle-style balls that short pips are known for.
Over the table and on blocks it stays low and doesn't fly, but on hard hits it can still generate real speed. It doesn't fly when you don't want it to and flies when you do, so I found it very easy to control. One issue: when receiving the opponent's drive, it can sometimes slip, and that's the only time control got difficult. (That said, it also made for a ball that was quite hard for the opponent to handle.)
This rubber is often reviewed as a "manual" type that's supposedly hard to use, and while it's true it can slip and get tricky at times, for the most part you can control it exactly as intended, and it has plenty of spin and speed too, so I think it's a pretty well-balanced and easy-to-use rubber. I use this on my B side, my A side is Rakza 7 Soft.
PO feels like it takes the best of both short pips and inverted rubber.
Pushes and blocks were flying too much, so I switched from max thickness to thick.
On my other racket, I switch between Rakza XX and Rakza X Soft.
XX has amazing attacking power, but PO is lighter, so it feels like it has better all-around adaptability.
For serves, the X series grips well so I use it for topspin serves, while the 7 slides a bit so I use it for backspin serves.
I think combining Rakza XX and Rakza PO would be amazing.
One note: PO can produce all kinds of spin, but that also makes it tricky to use.
I'd recommend experimenting with sponge thickness to find your overall balance.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I've been using this for over a year now, since around the start of last year. Before this I always used vertical-grain rubbers focused on speed and knuckle balls, so this is my first horizontal-grain rubber.
I use it thick on a single-sided penhold blade (5-ply), and overall I feel like I can play any technique at a high level with it. I can't compare it to other horizontal-grain rubbers, but when I block an opponent's topspin, I get quite a lot of knuckle effect. I feel the balance of control, spin, and speed is excellent. It might just be a limitation in my own skill, but angle-hitting against backspin is a bit tricky, and I feel I need to hit with a slight topspin motion.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

If your way of generating spin relies on the ball sinking into the sponge, I think this is very easy to use.As for speed, light shots fall a bit short compared to Booster or Impartial, but on hard hits the distance is just as good.
That's because I felt you need a fairly strong impact to get the ball moving fast. The feel is harder than the manufacturer's stated specs suggest.
So I'd recommend this for players with a fast swing who can deliver a solid impact.

I love the feel of this rubber when playing single-sided pips.
But for competing with a single-sided pips setup, you need
- a rubber that grips the ball well and has good rebound
- one that spins well and gives you speed on hard hits too
- one with knuckle balls and some character
I thought no such short pips rubber existed, and then I found Rakza PO.
Serves bite well, meet-hits produce heavy balls, and stops in particular hold really well.
It's a relatively heavy rubber for short pips, but since I only use it on one side, I can swing through fast.
I'm currently using medium thickness, but I'm thinking about switching to thick.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard
