Coming back after 30 years away.
I'm new to tension rubber, so my sense of things is old-fashioned — please bear with me.
My points of comparison are older-style rubbers from 30 years ago, like the Sriver, Tackiness Drive, and Selvido.The feel on impact was quite solid, I thought. It really sinks in, really grips, and really flies — that's the impression I got.
Compared to the Sriver or Selvido, it gives more reassurance in how the ball holds. Even if your contact point is a little off, or your timing is a little off, you still get the reassurance that the ball will go where you meant it to.
Put less kindly, it's a rubber that lets you cover up your mistakes.I have no complaints about speed or spin. The control is also good, so the ball reliably lands on the table.
There's just one thing that bothers me.
It's mostly down to my own lack of skill, but when I try to brush a drive off a slow knuckle ball or a soft backspin ball, every once in a while I whiff and drop the ball completely. Needs more practice.I felt this is plenty high-performance for someone aiming to become an intermediate player.

A high-cost rubber that comes in just under 4000 yen after discount.
The sheet is strong, so it doesn't get torn up even by chop-style techniques.
The sponge is also soft, so it naturally produces a nice arcing trajectory, which gives it good stability too.
That said, the speed isn't great, and drives also land shallow, so
against a decent opponent it can become easy pickings for a counter.
When used for chopping, the spin and control are more than fine, but
drives from mid-distance are a bit tough.
(Since they land pretty shallow, that too can turn into a chance ball for the opponent.)
Given all that, I think this suits someone on their second rubber after starting table tennis, but for intermediate players and above,

Switched from the Yasaka Mark V to the Raygun Spin.
It's a bit harder than the Mark V.
Since it's on the backhand side of a one-sided Japanese penhold blade, it bounced more than I expected on shorts and blocks, so I kept overshooting.

For the low price, you get plenty of spin and speed. If you adjust the thickness, it's also easy to control, so I think it's manageable even for beginners.

Re-reviewing after about 4 months of use.
The durability is long. It still grips enough spin that I can get service aces with backspin serves.
Since the sheet is strong, hitting counters and smashes is very easy.
It's not very affected by incoming spin, but it grips plenty of spin itself. About 2/3 of the G1, lol
For this price, I think the performance is really great.

Comparing this with the Raygun and Rakza X.
[Light hits] Compared to the Raygun, it feels like it grips the ball more firmly.
[Stops/Pushes] Unlike the Raygun, it doesn't let the ball sink in too much or float up, so you can cut it sharply. The feel is closer to the Rakza X.
[Topspin drive] Compared to the Raygun, the spin has increased and the drive feels heavier. The trajectory is lower than the Rakza's, so it lands shallow. I think it's fine for countering things like loop balls, but winning a topspin rally outright feels tough.
[Other] Since the Rakza X is on the heavier side as rubbers go, this could be a good option if you want to cut weight without reducing sponge thickness.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Switched from the Raygun to the Spin version, and it felt like the grip improved slightly.
