Highly rated as a beginner's rubber with consistently praised superior control and stability. However, insufficient speed and spin performance for intermediate players and above, with step-up to advanced rubbers recommended after mastering basics.

▲ PositiveAll performance is directed toward control, with moderate spin that makes basic techniques easy to learn. High-quality Butterfly sheet allows beginners to develop spin techniques they need to master.
▽ CriticalLacks spin and doesn't drive well with plastic balls. Insufficient speed makes it easy to be countered; intermediate players find overall performance lacking, requiring upgrade to high-elasticity rubbers within a year.

Every company makes an entry-level rubber, but Flextra is on another level.
The quality is honestly good enough that you could hand it out in elementary school PE class.
The first skill beginners need to develop is how to put spin on the ball, right?
Flextra's sheet has that good Butterfly-quality feel, so I think it's easy to build up the technique of re-spinning the ball with it.
On top of that, it holds the ball well, so you can swing your arm slowly and with confidence.
True to an entry-level rubber, control is a 10 out of 10.
It's perfect for practicing sending the ball to a target spot.
Other companies' entry-level rubbers cost 1000-2000 yen more, but Flextra comes in at this price.
Once you get a bit more used to the game you'll want to use a cooler-looking rubber anyway, so it's better for an entry rubber to be cheap.

I recommended this rubber to a club teammate who just started playing! They have Safira on the forehand and this on the backhand. Apparently basic meet hitting is really easy with it, and they've gotten quite used to it now! Definitely give it a try!

I think this rubber is soft and has excellent control. Techniques like pushes and stops are easy to control and quite easy to pull off. If someone who hasn't developed their swing yet uses it, I think it'll help them swing with their whole body instead of just their arm! Also, it's very light, so you don't need to worry about the weight at all!
At this price range, I think this is by far the best rubber. I recommend it as a first rubber! I really want people who are thinking about starting table tennis to try it out!!!

I used this when I first started playing table tennis. It's perfect for learning the basic techniques.
That said, it doesn't bounce much, and being a beginner rubber it doesn't have much power either...
Topspin drives are so-so ("though the quality isn't great"), and counters feel hard to pull off.
Blocks are also so-so, and chiquitas don't go in very well ("they do go in, but just barely").
The short game is so-so - pushes go in reasonably well and stops are okay too...
Flicks don't go in very consistently.
As expected, intermediate and advanced players will probably find it lacking (^^;)
Beginner rubbers are overall inferior in performance compared to normal high-performance rubbers, but I think it's precisely because of that lower performance that they're popular with beginners and people just starting table tennis.

I used this when I first started playing table tennis. I think this is a completely beginner-level rubber.
For a beginner rubber it does generate spin. But the drawbacks are that it doesn't fly much and it's easily affected by the opponent's spin.

Definitely lives up to being beginner-oriented.
Control is good, so it doesn't bounce much.
However, it doesn't generate that much spin.
Still, for a first rubber, this is the one.

I have it on my backhand side.
It feels somewhat weak against spin.
Still, I think it's perfect for people who just started playing table tennis.
