Back in the day, beginners used to use this a lot (or were made to use it), but honestly, it's not that easy to use nowadays, right? (lol)
If anything, it's more of a quirky rubber that lets you produce balls that are hard for opponents to handle, thanks to the low trajectory and heavy ball quality. And yet it lets you return consistently over the table, so I think it's perfect for a technician type who wants to induce opponent errors.
Also, backhand chops are actually really easy to do with it! The bite is good, and you can produce knuckle balls too.
Reflex blocks are super slow with it, but surprisingly that ends up scoring points sometimes lolIt grips the ball well and you can even lift backspin balls, but the spin itself isn't great... lol
For some reason it just goes in so well. So you can swing through with confidence.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

The sponge got harder, making it a pretty different rubber from the regular Tackiness Chop.
That squishy, ball-power-absorbing feeling is faded now.It doesn't fly much, I'll give it that. But if you catch it thick without a full swing, it flies surprisingly well.
You only get real spin when you swing through properly, but you can cover that with practice lolThe push settles nicely, and receiving is easy. Serves feel oddly hard to put spin on though.
The topsheet just doesn't have much backbone or firmness lol, there's a gap with the sponge...
I'd give up on attacking with it too... I think it's best to put a bouncier rubber on your forehand and use this on the backhand, focusing on defense.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

I never really got along with the Mark V, but I bought it after finding out that Ageta, a player I personally like, uses it.
Out of respect for him, I tried putting it on both sides. The weight wasn't a big deal. It's lighter than spin-oriented tension rubbers, so it was easier to swing through.
And the bounce was just right. Even backed off the table, you can still attack effectively.
On top of that, chops are easy to keep low. That said, unless you really slice down through the ball, an average player's touch will make it float. The sharpness of the cut... honestly I didn't think it was that great, at least when I was the one initiating the chop. When receiving an opponent's loop, though, I felt like it cut well enough. I think it suits a counter-attacking style where you retrieve first and strike back.Personally, I feel like the Mark V doesn't generate spin if you brush it lightly. And this HPS has inherited that same trait lol
You need that feeling of really biting into the ball to get spin going. In the end, all I really came away with was a vague sense of how talented Ageta is (lol)
I think it's good for a flashy inverted-inverted chopper who can hit with both hands (lol)Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

The tackiness on the topsheet is more of a bonus, but if you sink the ball in a bit and put spin on it, you can really feel it grip.
If you brush it too thin, it feels like the ball slips. The bounce isn't great, but if you swing all the way through, you can still get power out of it. The hardness is just right.
Personally, I found the short game really easy to do with this. It's not that sensitive to incoming spin either, so it's easy to use over the table.Overall Speed Spin Control

The spin really grips too, but the speed is amazing. You can hit topspin drives with a lot of extension.
Even on a chopper's blade, you can push through with consecutive attacking shots. It's also nice that the rubber isn't heavy. When chopping you need to make a conscious effort to hold it down firmly, but I don't think the bite is bad. Fish shots also have speed, and drives from far off the table fly through without losing pace. When it bounces this pleasantly, any complaints about the spin just fly away too (lol)
For serves and the short game, I didn't find it especially easy to put spin on, but the control is good, and in a good way it's not very sensitive to the opponent's spin, which gave me a sense of security.
