I noticed that almost everyone around me was using this rubber, so I had someone let me try it out to see what it's like. Just like Table Tennis Kingdom (Takkyu Oukoku) mentions, meeting the ball is really easy with this. Backhand meets in particular were great, as were blocks, counters, and backhand shots from away from the table. Drives are also fairly easy to hit. I think it's just right for stepping up from beginner to intermediate level.

This one... reminds me of the Omega VII Asia I test-hit recently. Seriously, the amount of spin is insane. Even the Q3 already had high performance, but this one feels on par with it, or from my perspective, even a notch above. It produces a lot of spin, but it's hard to actually get that spin out. In other words, you need real muscle strength to make it work. I don't have all that much, so I gave up on using it on my backhand (my forehand rubber is already set). You also need to be careful choosing your blade, or you won't be able to handle this rubber properly. It's that much of a "high risk, high reward" rubber.

So they say: it's not amazingly high-performance, but every technique is easy with it. So they say: it performs best when playing close to the table to mid-distance. So they say: even as your first carbon blade, you might be able to handle it. ...or so I hear.

This is a beginner blade similar to the Tesura. I'd call it more "beginner" than "absolute entry-level." If it's your very first blade, it might be a bit hard to handle, and you might not be able to swing through properly? Once you've built up the basics like forehand hitting, you can move on to slightly more advanced things like serve technique. It'll last you a year (I'm dead serious).

These days, more players worldwide use the 05 than the 80, but personally I like the 80 more than the 05. It has that classic "Tenergy" speed/bounce, plus spin that's almost as good as the 05. It's stable enough to do anything with. And then there's the durability... come on Butterfly, can't you do something about how quickly this thing wears out?
