    I tried both this and Tackiness Chop on the same blade - the bounce was almost identical (though according to the spec charts, the "2" version has a bit more bounce), but the spin... this one gets more of it. If you really cut through it, both the push and the chop come out with brutal spin, and my rally opponents seemed to be having a rough time.

    It just doesn't bounce at all, so attacking is hopelessly slow, but the control on chops is outstanding and you can pick up your opponent's hard hits all day.
    On the flip side, if you pair it with a low-bounce blade, shots from far behind the table won't even reach and tend to catch in the net, so it balanced out well when paired with a bouncier chopping blade like the Joo Se-hyuk or Bionsero.

    I'm using the super-extra-thin version on the B side of my chopping blade.

    If you hit it flat or push lightly, true to its name it produces a knuckle ball; if you really chop hard, the flight is a bit flatter than long pips but similar, giving a slow, heavily backspun ball. On receive, both pushing and pushing sideways are easy, and it feels like a slightly harder long pips… but you can also brush it up for a normal topspin drive, and it goes in even if you swing like it's inverted rubber… I guess that's the short-pips side showing through in this rubber.

    Good points:
    Close to the table, you can redirect the ball to hit lines or swing away, attacking at a speed that's fast for a knuckle ball
    When chopping, switching between knuckle and a hard chop lets you force mistakes
    Bad points:
    Against slow balls or light touches like a push, it turns into a knuckle ball, so opponents who are used to that, like against long pips, can read and target it

    When your opponent uses Do-Knuckle against you, it's really annoying to deal with — that's the kind of rubber this is.

  • VS＞402 DOUBLE EXTRA

    With its hard sponge, both chops and attacking shots fly off with a loud, high-pitched crack.

    On offense it gives you plenty of power whether you're close to the table or pushed back, and for chopping it holds the ball down well, just like the VS401 — it's a strange rubber that way. I'd say it's a good rubber for a chopper who also wants to attack aggressively, since the pushes come out really sharp too.

    That said, it does feel like a more attack-oriented version of the 401, and comparing them at the same thickness (1.8), I felt the 401 holds chops down better.
    Since it only comes from 1.8mm up, if the 1.5mm 401 is your best balance, you probably don't need the 402...

    Also, the rubber itself is heavy, so if you use it on both sides, be prepared for a heavy blade weighing over 200g...

  • Super Spinpips Chop II

    The sponge is the same non-bouncy soft sponge used in anti-spin rubbers, so control on chops is outstanding.
    It also gets so much spin that opponents often net the ball, giving it a sharpness like inverted rubber.

    I started with thin, but because of the blade's bounce, my chops tended to go longer than I expected.
    Normally you'd think to go even thinner, but when I tried medium-thick instead, the soft sponge absorbed the power of the opponent's attacks and my control improved.
    That said, for light taps, whether thin or medium, the ball tends to slip off and drop into the net a lot…

    The features of this blade are:

    it doesn't bounce much
    the grip is hollow, shifting the weight toward the tip

    so chopping gives you stable control, and having the weight toward the tip also makes it easy to put a lot of spin on your chops!
    But the biggest point is that it's light (mine weighed 68g).
    Depending on the rubber, even with inverted rubber on both sides it comes out to around 160-170g, so the weight doesn't change all that much compared to a blade with long pips or short pips on the B side, which is really nice for someone like me who uses inverted-inverted, inverted+long pips, and inverted+short pips setups.

    That said, I was surprised by the distinctive light "pon" sound it makes on impact, but if that doesn't bother you, I'd say it's an excellent blade.
