For beginners through intermediate players, you can honestly get by with just this one rubber. Despite being cheap, the topsheet quality is really good, the ball grips well and spin comes easily. Since the sponge only comes in medium thickness, it's easy to learn the feel of both brushing and flicking the ball.
As for what to move on to after this, I'd say something like the Hexer Grip series. Recommended.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Being a blade that was once used by the Chinese national team, it really has a lot of flex. It's soft, so it pairs nicely with tacky rubbers and feels great.

The bounce doesn't feel like a 5-ply blade at all. Of all the 5-ply blades I've used, this is the best. It's easy to hit both topspin and backspin balls, and it's easy to vary the touch between soft and hard shots. The short game is also fairly stable. The only thing is, smashes bring out an odd hardness, so you need to be a bit careful there.
I think it balances better with a medium-hard or harder rubber rather than a soft one. Anyone from intermediate level up can use this.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little hard

It's honestly surprising that this rubber is still widely used even now, in the age of plastic balls.
This rubber has no quirks and lets you play every technique in a well-balanced way. Rather than a style that sinks the ball deep into the sponge, a brushing/grazing stroke suits it better, and because it's a high-bounce rubber, it's easy to build up the basic skill of controlling your own power. I'd recommend it as a second rubber for beginners, or as a starting point for intermediate-and-up players who want to iron out techniques they're weak at.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

This rubber is all about spin. The weight, at 45g in thick, isn't too heavy either.
It's easy to vary the power of your shots — a light touch stays mild, but a full, committed swing produces a good amount of speed and spin. It's a rubber that answers back exactly as much as you put into it.
The spin is heavy and it's easy to produce heavy balls. In the short game, it doesn't bounce much on soft touches, so it's quite manageable. Serves also carry a lot of spin, and it's easy to produce both short and long serves. Only the smash feels somehow half-baked.
Even with all the latest high-end rubbers out there, this one is cheap and has performance you can pick up easily, which is probably why it's used by such a wide range of players. Recommended.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard
