This is the original, unbeatable value-for-money rubber. I used Mark V 13 years ago, and since I was getting back into table tennis after a long break, I bought this because it's bouncier than what I used back then. I wondered how it would feel with the plastic ball, but I could do drives, smashes, counters, and flicks without any problem, so it really lives up to its reputation. I play close to the table with an old-school style so the ball really carried for me, but I don't think it'll suit people used to hitting with tension rubbers like Tenergy. I think a 7-ply blade works well with it.

This is a solid, well-rounded rubber. It feels like Vega Pro updated for modern table tennis. It can really do everything. With other brands' rubbers at this price point, hitting hard tends to make the ball drop short, but this one really sends the ball through properly. The topsheet is soft with great grip on the ball, so chiquitas and counters get proper spin on them too.
Topspin rallies are no problem either, so considering the price, this is a monster rubber. I'd recommend pairing it with a composite (non all-wood) blade.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

This is a European rubber. Being from andro, when you compare its drives to Vega X, the ball comes off in a slightly odd way. You get a real sense of grabbing the ball before it launches, so if you want to stabilize your loops against backspin, I think this is actually better than a high-end rubber. There's really no technique it can't handle, so I'd call it one of the best value-for-money rubbers out there. I think it pairs well with an all-wood blade. Even with an outer carbon blade, it won't fly off the table on short balls.

This has been my partner since the celluloid-ball era. Back then, school rules only allowed Mark V and Excise F1, but even so, it gave me just enough bounce for playing close to the table. I recently got back into table tennis, bought rubber on a whim - Hexer Grip and Vega X - and I've reconfirmed that this really is a great blade. If you're a "forehand power hitter" type who uses meet-hits and blocks close to and at mid-distance, definitely give this a try.

A really good blade. No matter what rubber I put on it, it grips the ball firmly, so I can swing all the way through properly. Right now I have Jekyll & Hyde on both sides, and the stability on contact is amazing. It pairs especially well with rubbers that generate a lot of spin, like European rubbers or tacky rubbers.
The downside is the weight, but since it's a 7-ply, that's something I went in expecting.
