I switched to this blade from a pure wood 5-ply,
and since it has fiber instead of carbon in it, I was able to transition smoothly without any weird feeling.
My backhand drive used to be unstable, but now the ball rises up while drawing an arc,
so it's become much more stable and consistent!
It grips the ball firmly before releasing it, so the spin and speed are
also more than satisfactory.

I always thought manufacturer marketing copy for blades was never really something you could trust.

I quoted the original wording exactly, but honestly, that's really how it felt.
Whether swinging hard or connecting softly, both exceeded my expectations.It's an outer blade but non-carbon — in other words, outer fiber. Aside from this one, the only other blade I know with that construction is the Timo Boll ZLF.
(I'm sure there are others, I just mean I personally don't know of any.)Of course there's none of that carbon hardness, but the ball felt like it really flew when I swung hard.
If I had to name a downside, it's that the average weight runs a bit heavy. I had a bit of trouble finding a lighter unit.XIOM has a strong image as a rubber brand, so I think people don't reach for their blades much, but this one is a solid option.
Going forward, this is shaping up to be a blade brand I want to keep in my options.
No, seriously, I really recommend it!

Before using this blade, I was using the Wa no Kiwami Ao straight grip with the same rubber I use now. With a straight grip it's hard to hit well without re-gripping when switching directions, so I changed to the flared Hugo Hyper Axylium. It's much easier to hold.
As for the feel, I had originally used pure wood, but this still had a solid ball-holding sensation, so I could use it without any real drop-off.
For forehand hitting, the trajectory felt a little low at first, but it was quite easy to produce knuckle balls, and overall it's an easy-to-handle blade.
For forehand against backspin, I overshot a little at first, but if I hit with slight contact instead of lifting from below, the ball landed on the table with a sharp trajectory.
For backhand hitting, the ball rises up quite well and arcs nicely into the opponent's court. The stability is excellent.
For backhand against backspin, I'm the type who hits with slight contact, and it was very easy to do.
For the short game, flicks, chiquitas, and stops were all easy to do.
Serves are just average for me, since I'm not particularly good at them to begin with. Switching grips after the serve isn't especially easy either.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

The feel is similar to Butterfly's Zhang Jike ALC! Blocking and countering were really easy to do! For rubber, harder options than Tenergy 64 or Fastarc S1 — like V15 Extra or Tenergy 05 — fit really well.

I used it for about 4 hours, including a practice match.
Whether playing close to the table or at mid-distance, it grips the ball before it bounces off, so ball control is easy.
The short game and blocking are also relatively easy to control compared to the Innerforce ZLC.
One thing to watch out for: players close to the table with a slow swing speed who swing from low to high are likely to get more overshoot misses.
If you have enough swing speed, the spin will bring the ball down onto the table, so I think players with a certain level of skill will like it.It's somehow easier to use with a 5.8mm blade thickness than 5.7mm — maybe that's because of the Viscaria's blade thickness (lol)
It's been a while since I found an outer blade I could actually control in a match.
If you're not good at controlling the short game, or want more time to recover your position, a larger-blade option like the Innerforce ZLC series is probably the safer choice.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Soft

Since the Japanese Calderano Hyper was slow to arrive because of COVID, I ordered it from overseas instead, and it's a really great blade! It doesn't have carbon in it, just fiber, so the feel is soft and it grips the ball really well — it's just not comparable to a carbon blade. I can't go back to using my old Butterfly Innerforce ZLC anymore, since that hard carbon feel just gets in the way! I definitely recommend this blade!
