The TSP Black Balsa 5.0 is a controlled and well-balanced ALL/OFF blade. Ideal for controlled topspin play and precise counter-attack/blocking close-to-the-table play. The 5.0 mm thick balsa core provides for a great mix of speed and control.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
The racket's lightweight design is its standout feature, with many praising improved swing speed and quick transitions. However, some users point out limitations in power and spin generation, with opinions varying based on playing style.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Exceptionally light (approximately 63-150g) enhancing swing speed
    • Enables fast front-court techniques, counters, and quick switches
    • Compatible with both light and heavy rubbers for versatile setups
    • Balsa wood material requires edge tape for durability
    • Power and spin performance are modest, not ideal for aggressive play
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveRecommended for players lacking power. The lightweight racket enables quick switching and fast recovery when moved side-to-side. Full swings deliver ideal performance.
▽ CriticalWhile the light weight enables fast backhand switching, power deficiency makes it vulnerable to counters. Overall spin performance is also underwhelming across the board.

Novice kid (Experience: 4〜5 years) Too light!

      Player reviews

It's just really light, and the blade itself feels tiny too!

The grip is also on the thin side, so I think it's quite easy to handle for kids, women, or anyone with small hands.
I also considered other lightweight blades like the "Versal" and "Lightness,"
but I think buying this one was the right call.
Since the blade is thinner than the Black Balsa 7.0, it's 5g lighter.

If your blade feels heavy and you want to lighten things up a bit,
even with a high-performance heavy rubber on it, you can keep the total around 150g and still get a swing speed boost, I think.
Lifting backspin balls with a topspin drive also got easier, since the swing speed went up.

That said, the balsa is fragile, so side tape is a must!

Even with a high-performance heavy rubber,
I think it could also be fun to go all-in on lightness and put on short pips or a lightweight rubber like "Hammond," "Rise," or "Mark V."

Okada (Experience: 4〜5 years) Light and easy to counter with

      Player reviews

I'd recommend this for players without much power! You can counter and switch directions quickly!
I don't have much strength at all, but my smashes come out fast, and since the racket is light, I can switch quickly - even when I'm pushed side to side, I can return the ball lightly and quickly!!
      Definitely give it a try!!

      Aqua (Experience: 2〜3 years) Light

      Player reviews

I've got Tenergy and Dignics on it, and it's only about 155g. That lets me swing faster, so lifting backspin is easy. But I won't get the same racket next time.

Boy who loves table tennis (Experience: Less than a year) The best

      Player reviews

Putting Vega Asia (medium) on the forehand doesn't make it fly at all, which is great!
You can really go full swing, full power with it. Amazing!
On the backhand, Tenergy 05 (thick) doesn't fly too much either, which is also great! At around 150g, the swing speed is fast too.
This is the 4th racket I've tried since joining the club, and it's my ideal one!

Cool Max (Experience: 11〜20 years) So light that switching is excellent

      Player reviews

This blade is just plain light.
I measured it myself: the bare blade alone was 63.5g, and even with Legalis Red on both sides it only came to 134g.
Thanks to that light weight, you can switch between forehand and backhand really fast.
The feel is on the harder side, and thanks to the carbon there's plenty of bounce. Because it's so light there's a lack of power, so you can get countered fairly easily, but I still want everyone to experience this lightness at least once.

It also performs great as a chopper's blade! It holds up really well against hard hits, so if you're used to a bouncy blade, it's really easy to use. The attacking power is good too! ୧(๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)૭✧
