This is a blade that my club coach and a staff member at my go-to table tennis shop picked out for me. Before this I was using a 5-ply all-wood blade. After switching to this Ma Lin Carbon, I earned a spot at a national singles tournament for the first time. I can't really speak to the technical specs, but what I can say is that the ball really flies, spin is easy to put on, it's incredibly easy to use, and my win rate shot up right away!

I've been using this blade for 8 years. I switch rubbers now and then, but the blade itself has stuck with me for 8 years straight. In my experience, there's no rubber that doesn't work with it — pretty much any rubber suits it. That said, depending on the rubber, the blade's characteristics (its strengths and weaknesses) show up differently, so I think matching the combination to your playing style really matters with this blade. If I had to categorize it, its selling points are control and stability, but among inner-carbon blades, it's on the faster side. What sets it apart from others, though, is that it's clearly a "carbon that flexes and flies" — it holds the ball and flies out with a feeling like the spin is really being applied, rather than a snap/flick type of blade. My main weapons are the loop, the short game, and blocking, so if you play a similar style, you'll probably get what I mean. Even within loops, I use three different kinds, so this blade is a huge help in bringing out my own style.

This is the one-of-a-kind blade with the best offense-defense balance in the whole Ma Lin blade series. When you want it to fly, it flies; when you want to hold it back, it holds back; and it gives outstanding stability on the finer techniques like serve and receive, which matter the most in table tennis. On top of that, it's a legendary inner-carbon blade that anyone can use without any quirks to get used to, unlike today's special-material blades. "Carbon without excess" is a phrase that fits it well. It might look plain and understated at a glance, but personally I also like the grip design with its clearly thought-out color scheme.

Coming from the Ma Lin Extra Offensive, the Ma Lin Carbon was my first carbon blade. I'm the type who only really cares about ball-holding feel, flex, and control in a blade, so the Ma Lin Extra Offensive is my benchmark, but the Ma Lin Carbon has a flex just like all-wood — you could even describe it as "wood that flies well, in a good way." That said, it's still carbon at heart, and when you go for a big shot, the ball suddenly changes character on you. Drives that curve left and right, or that sweep across, are a big weapon here. Personally, it feels like I've leveled up from wood to carbon.

I used the Ma Lin Carbon again for the first time in four years! It's still great, honestly. Back when I first tried carbon, this was the one I picked, and since then I've strayed off and used various special-material blades, but when I pulled this one out again after all this time, I thought, "yeah, this is good." The ball just settles nicely in my hand, and it made me realize all over again that this level of flex and feel is exactly what suits me best. On the flip side, it also made me rethink how the other special-material blades, while faster, tend to get out of control in your hand. I used my old one again after four years, and this has motivated me to buy a new Ma Lin Carbon as well.

Really great! There are all kinds of carbon blades from every maker out there, but the Ma Lin Carbon is by far the easiest to use. These days there are a lot of blades called "XX Carbon" or "XXX Carbon," but this is the plain, standard carbon blade! At the end of the day, times change but a good blade stays good — and the Yasaka Ma Lin Carbon is the blade that proves that saying!!

I've played table tennis for a long time and used all kinds of blades. For Chinese penhold, I've gone through 4 Butterflys, 4 STIGAs, 4 Yasakas, 2 Donics, 2 Darkers, 1 Nittaku, 1 DHS, 1 Mizuno, and 1 XIOM — old and new models, all-wood and special materials, I've tried them all. It depends on your playing style, habits, and tactics, but among both wood and special-material blades, the Chinese penhold models from STIGA, Yasaka, and Darker were good. Among all of them, aside from the sound, the Ma Lin Carbon is a really great blade. For me, it's my favorite in every aspect of performance. Strangely enough, the more you use the Ma Lin Carbon, the more it grows on you. In the end, no matter how many different rubbers I try, I always come back to the Ma Lin Carbon. I'm convinced this one really suits me. I'll probably keep trying different blades from now on, but one way or another, the Ma Lin Carbon is always my baseline, and I end up coming back to it. That's how good a blade it is.
