I love Ma Lin's table tennis, and I love the whole Ma Lin blade series too — I've actually used every blade in the series at one point or another. It's hard to rank them, but honestly, for Chinese penhold my recommendation is the Extra Offensive. That one is a flawless, perfect Chinese penhold blade made for penhold users.
So what about this Ma Lin Carbon, then... Honestly, it picks its users. Based on my own experience and standards, the Ma Lin Carbon is an absolutely top-tier blade for someone who has "the skill to really put spin on the ball themselves," but it's not suited to players who rely on the rubber's performance to generate spin or speed, or who hit drives and spin the ball somewhat vaguely without really controlling it. In short, I can say flat out that only someone with "the feel and technique to control the amount of spin with their own arm" will ever understand what's good about this blade. I'll say it plainly.
So I think it's really the Ma Lin Carbon that picks its user, not the other way around.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

I haven't switched away from the Ma Lin Carbon for 7 years straight. I'm on my third one now! I've reached the point where I don't even see the appeal of other blades anymore. Everything I need is satisfied with this one. Like other reviews here have said, it's carbon that doesn't feel like carbon, and that's exactly the feeling that works best for me! The bounce is controllable, and it grips the ball so well that you can send it off with spin, which for me is the best part of all!
It's probably not the best fit for people who want a lot of bounce or a power-oriented blade, since the carbon layer is thin and set inside.

Blocking and the short game are on a whole other level, really easy.
There are no small mistakes and no errors on defense, which lets you swing freely on offense.
On the attacking side, drives and everything else, I have zero complaints!
The weight is nicely balanced too, and personally I love the grip.
In a normal rally you might not really feel the carbon, but hit hard and you'll notice it.

I've pretty much only ever used the Ma Lin Carbon, so I can't really compare it to others, but it's been my go-to blade for a long time. I'm not really interested in other blades since my playing style is so used to this one (lol)

I don't feel like there's any single standout feature, but every technique feels stable with this blade.
For example, drives get strong spin and can also be hit fast. Serves and receives can be controlled well and kept short easily. Blocks stop firmly. Even when you're pushed back, you can hold your own in rallies without a problem. If anything, when you jump in for a curving loop drive, it really bends a lot. It might not have any standout specs, but on the flip side, that means it has no real downsides either. That's why I think of it as more of a "model student" blade. Personally, rather than feeling like carbon, it feels more like wood, with flex and bounce, but with a hint of carbon somewhere in there.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

For a carbon blade, it has ball-holding feel and flex almost like wood, and it's very stable. I think that's because it's more of an inner-carbon type, and the carbon layer itself seems to be thin. Also, because the ball feels like it sticks to the blade, the short game is really easy and blocks are easy to stop too. What's strange is that when you hit hard, drive hard, or meet the ball with full force, that earlier stability disappears in a good way, and suddenly you get a strong burst and a lot of bounce. This is a blade with two faces, depending on the player's power and touch.

I borrowed one from a fellow club member and got hooked!
At first it didn't quite click, but as I kept using it, the feel and bounce started feeling really nice for some reason, and before I knew it I was hooked. Now I've bought my own Ma Lin Carbon and I'm using it!
For reference, I used to use the Butterfly Liu Shiwen blade before this, and comparing the two, the Ma Lin wins on both feel and bounce. It also wins on one-shot power and stability. Basically it beat the old one in every category, so I switched to the Ma Lin Carbon.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard
