MA LIN SOFT CARBON has the same outer veneer as the famous EXTRA blade. Its medium soft characteristics is appreciated by players who want increased ball feel.
In SOFT CARBON Yasaka is using a special, very thin Carbon fibre to improve the speed and enlarge the Sweet-spot.
Together with the thicker wooden middle veneer it gives good power.

I bought this over 10 years ago, not long after it came out.
For a special-material blade, the bounce is pretty modest, but since it was the glue era back then, that was easy enough to make up for. I think being able to experiment with things like Extend + Fusion or Sriver G2 + Catapult came down to how reassuringly easy this blade itself was to use.
The spin feels about the same as a plain wood blade. As for speed off the blade, it's basically wood plus a little extra, so if you're expecting a lot just because it says "carbon," you'll probably be disappointed. For me, it was a good match because it let me boost my smashes and meet-hits without losing control.
This year it took runner-up at the World Championships, so maybe it really is a well-balanced blade for handling today's high-performance rubbers. If you want control and the feel of hitting the ball yourself, this is definitely a blade worth trying.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

Very easy to handle blade. I'd recommend going 90g or more — the heavier ones seem to have more bounce. Mine is 93g, and it has good bounce, grips the ball well, generates spin, and makes meet-hitting easy too. This is my first Yasaka blade and it's really good. I think it suits drive players who play close to the table or at mid-distance. If I'd known it was this good, I would've started using it much sooner.

Light and easy to swing all the way through. My hands are big, so I like the thicker grip too. Even with a bouncier rubber on it, it's still easy to control.

Compatibility with all rubbers: good
Since it pairs well with rubber,
depending on the rubber, the speed
can get really impressive. That said, the handle is thick, so
if you hold it the way Xu Xin does,
the backhand side might be hard to hit.
If you're the type who thinks "I never use the backhand side anyway!"
this should suit you great. Ma Lin also attacks
mainly with his forehand, so if you're an all-forehand player,

Doesn't feel like carbon at all. It's pretty close to a 5-ply. That said, it's incredibly stable for it! Usable from beginner to intermediate level.
