I was looking for a light blade to use on the backhand side, so I bought this.
The bare blade weighs 66g; I played with short pips on the forehand and inverted rubber on the backhand.
Since it has carbon in it, it bounces more than pure wood and the feel is on the harder side, but because the blade itself is light, it's still easy to handle.
With the Segun blade, the wood feel was strong, so I used vertical-grain Morist SP to boost the bounce, but with this blade it's the opposite - the ball leaves it fast, so I felt horizontal-grain rubber worked better if you're putting short pips on it.
On the backhand I had Vega Tour on, and other than the extra bounce, there wasn't anything hard to deal with.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

I mainly use topspin drives and counters with a spin-oriented short-pips rubber, but I flick and push with anti-spin rubber
Total blade weight is 135g, so it's on the light side
It's a hard blade, so the ball comes off well, which suits short pips
Anti-spin rubber comes off too slowly on a soft blade, but with this blade the ball comes off just right

I wanted a Japanese-style reverse-penhold blade like Peco from the Ping Pong anime, or like Taisei Matsushita uses!
So I bought a total of six blades to compare, and in the end the one I liked best was the Spin Ace.
The deciding factor was that it has great bounce, and the exhilarating feeling it leaves in your hand after a strong hit is really satisfying.
High-tension rubber gets too wild for it, so at my level a high-elasticity rubber is plenty, and I went with the Spectrum S1, which produces knuckle balls and doesn't fly too much.
The sweet spot is wide and control is good, so I can hit shots I'm satisfied with, ball after ball.
The one complaint I have is that the manufacturer's stated weight is 60g, but mine arrived at 69g!

Forehand: short pips, Spinate, medium-thick
Backhand: inverted rubber, Mark V, thin
Total blade weight: about 130g
I bought it to go lighter, so I used thinner rubber than before
[Hitting feel]
A bit on the hard side, but as a short-pips setup the ball comes off well with just the right amount of bounce
A little vibration comes through to your hand, but it wasn't unpleasant
Light taps have a soft feel, but when you really commit and hit a spot hard, the sensation of the power transferring through the blade as you swing through is really satisfying
[Ball quality]
Maybe because my swing speed got faster, serves and pushes come out really sharp and cutting
With the rubber I chose, the trajectory is straight rather than arcing, but the control is good
Compared to the 7-ply pure-wood Aqua Blade, the shots feel somewhat lighter
Counters get pushed back more than with pure wood, so you need to adjust your timing on impact
As for knuckle balls, this is on the more knuckle-prone side among reverse-penhold blades
[Short game]
Stops tend to wobble a bit, maybe because it's light, but that's not an issue once you get used to it
Flicks were easy since the ball comes off well

I've been playing table tennis for 50 years, always as a penholder. I started with inverted rubber, then moved to short pips, and now I'm using this Spin Ace Carbon with Curl P3 on the pips side and Mark V on the inverted side. I've also used the Garaydia Revolver and played Chinese-style penhold. I used the Spin Ace Carbon a long time ago, went to the Garaydia Revolver, and have now come back to it. I think both are good blades. For a penhold player, the grip is what really matters, but I barely shave down where my index finger rests anymore, unlike in the old days. Instead, to match the size of my hand, I cut off about 7-8mm of cork from the part of the grip where my index finger wraps around.
This makes it easy to angle the blade, and easy to swing on the reverse side too. Mark V is an old-school rubber, but it's stable and wonderful. Curl P3V doesn't feel much like a typical long-pips rubber, but instead it's a good rubber that's easy to attack with.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

Mom (Experience: １１〜２０ years) A god-tier racket for penhold two-sided play

I've been playing penhold with short pips for over 10 years, and it's rare to find a blade this well-balanced for that style.
- Light even with rubber on both sides
- The feel is close to wood
- Speed comes through when you hit it firmly, and blocks stay on the table with a moderate bounce
- There's no technique it struggles withIf you're a penhold player with pips on the forehand and rubber on the backhand looking for a cork grip, I think this is the best option.
What I look for in a blade for pips-on-one-side penhold (even for straight pips penhold) is all-round versatility.
Of course, if you get pushed back from the table your shots lose power, but with this style you rarely end up far from the table, so it hasn't been an issue for me.You can perform well from close to the table to mid-distance.
If you play penhold with pips and rubber, why not give this one a try?

Looking for more bounce than my WFS Rotor, I bought this carbon blade to try. It definitely has good bounce, but I never got used to the feel of the carbon, so I didn't end up sticking with it.
