    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
A high-performance table tennis rubber well-suited for aggressive playing styles. With a horizontal grain pattern that provides spin comparable to backside rubber, it receives overwhelming support from intermediate and advanced players, especially those transitioning from inverted rubber. While adaptation is required, it becomes a powerful weapon when mastered, combining stability and hitting power.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Spin rubber that achieves spin levels close to inverted rubber
    • Outstanding speed performance ideal for aggressive play
    • Easy to hit drives and smashes with high stability
    • Smooth transition for players switching from inverted rubber
    • Produces few knuckleballs without conscious effort
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveDespite being a pimple-out rubber, it generates substantial spin, and drives are so stable they go in even with casual shots. It's very easy to transition from inverted rubber, and smash opportunities are easy to finish. This is an excellent rubber.
▽ CriticalAs a spin-oriented pimple-out rubber, opponents adapt quickly and it lacks variation, potentially defeating the purpose of using pimple-out rubber. Also, executing flip shots is difficult with beginner-level rackets, requiring intermediate or higher skill level.

This was my first time with short pips, but since my backhand was already more of a flat-hitting style,
I found it very easy to use.

true Short pips that spin easily

      Reviews by user

For a short pips rubber, I think it's quite easy to generate spin with. The speed is satisfying too. Flicks were easy to do with it.

It's a good rubber — serves spin easily and it also produces good speed.
Put it on your backhand and hitting with it feels fast and satisfying.

Moonlight (Experience: 11〜20 years) It's wonderful

Most of the reviews I'd seen were comparisons with inverted rubber, so
I tried this switching my forehand from inverted to short pips.
It's such a great rubber I can barely find a flaw in it.
Adjusting how much spin your serves have is easy too,
and you can do anything with it — smashes, drives, you name it.
Smashes in particular are incredibly easy to hit.
If I had to name a weak point, it would be that since the pips run sideways, the knuckle effect doesn't really show up unless you consciously go for it, and it can fly out a bit too easily.
I wish I'd put this on sooner (;´∀`)

mint (Experience: 4〜5 years) Doesn't feel like pips, but it is

      Reviews by user

With a heading like this you'd think it's hard to use, but honestly it's easy to use. I'm currently in the middle of switching over from inverted rubber, but if you consciously hit the way short pips are meant to be hit, it lands really well. Unusual rubbers like this tend to be about fast-paced rallies close to the table, but with the VO102 you can drop back to mid-distance and still return the ball, so it's a pretty much perfect short pips rubber.
That said, punch-blocking is tough with a beginner-oriented blade, so if you're just starting out, I think you're better off with something else. Might be good to switch to this somewhere between beginner and intermediate level.

Just so you know, this is only the opinion of someone who often gets mixed up with xylitol.

mikoto (Experience: 11〜20 years) Easy to use even for those switching from inverted to pips-out

      Reviews by user

This is a sideways-pip short pips rubber that still lets you generate spin fairly easily even though it's short pips.
If your opponent uses this against you, the ball comes off fast right from the start, which is typical of short pips and can catch you off guard, but their smashes also pick up a bit of spin, so the resulting ball is actually fairly easy to block once you get a racket on it.
That said, I think the strong points of this rubber are its control and the fact that it's a spin-friendly short pips rubber, so it's a bit of a trade-off.
If you hit a light topspin drive with it, you can generate enough spin to send your opponent's return flying off the table, so it spins more than a mediocre inverted rubber would. It definitely generated more spin than Mark V.
Not many players use short pips these days, so even though the shots that come off it are closer to what you'd get from inverted rubber, I think it can still be quite effective as a surprise factor.
Since it's easy to control, I think it's also a good option if you're switching over from inverted rubber.

Nyanko (Experience: 2〜3 years) It flies

      Reviews by user

Using this as short pips on my forehand.
Comparing it to the VO101 from the same series, which I have on my backup blade.
      Speed: 102 > 101
      Spin: 102 > 101
      Control: 102 < 101
      Knuckle effect: 102 < 101

Just like the catalog says, it's a short pips rubber built for hitting away, so the speed is incredible. But control is a bit trickier, and since the pips run sideways, you don't get the usual knuckle effect that short pips are known for. It also grips the ball well enough that you can even hit topspin drives with it.
This is just my personal opinion, so take it for what it's worth.
