First, you're struck by the beauty of the ebony finish. Ebony is hard enough that it conducts sound well, which is why it's also used in musical instruments — but that rarity also makes it very expensive. Because of ebony's hardness, the ball comes off with great energy efficiency, which is probably the source of the racket's speed. Strangely, the feel isn't as hard as you'd expect. There's some flex too, and the ball sticks for a split second before shooting off. That said, maybe because of how fast the ball leaves the blade, or maybe because of the plastic ball, I felt a bit lacking in spin. So I switched to one of the trendy fast, tacky rubbers, and that solved it. Whether it's the racket's compatibility or not, my loop spin increased and it became harder for opponents to counter. My drives from further back also kept their speed, letting me take control of rallies. As a mid-handle penholder using both sides, weight is an issue. But STIGA deliberately makes these with variation in weight from blade to blade, so different players can find one that fits. I had a shop I know track down two at 84 grams for me, and I'm using one now — after gluing on rubber it comes to about 160 grams, which is a good weight. It also pairs well with long pips, stopping the ball really well — the bounce becomes almost unbelievably low. I switch between an inverted-both-sides setup and a long-pips setup depending on the day. I don't feel tempted by other rackets anymore. This is the best blade I've had.

I used to use a Clipper Wood CR WRB, but once the plastic ball came in I felt it lacked power, so I switched to this one.
As for rubber, I used Tenergy 05 with the Clipper, but now I'm using the FX version.
The thickness is max thickness.One thing about pairing it with a soft rubber is that the sound of the ball hitting it is almost metallic, which is honestly just fun. People have even asked if I painted the blade or something.
As for feel, STIGA's wood blades are amazing at that sense of really holding the ball.With a hard rubber on this hard a blade, sinking the ball in and driving it doesn't feel stable, so if your main game is driving from close to mid-distance, I'd suggest using the FX version when playing with Tenergy.
The switch to plastic balls gave me a lot of trouble with equipment in general, but with this I got back to the same speed and spin I had with the old celluloid balls, so I'm satisfied.

I'd been using a Firefall AC, but I never got to like the feel of carbon, so I bought this one looking for a bouncy wood blade. The reviews all said it's really bouncy, but coming from a carbon blade, I didn't find it hard to handle. If you're mindful of your short-game technique, the ball doesn't get too wild, and my serves still have good spin. I can do both a driving loop that sinks into the rubber and a grazing loop. I found the loop drive really easy to hit. My backhand is short pips, and blocking is stable, and flicks and counters are easy too. That said, it's a very heavy racket, so while I was fine with short pips on the backhand, I think players with inverted rubber on both sides need to be especially careful. It also looks pretty cool, and it's become one of my favorites. I plan to keep using it. I've tried both tacky rubber and tension rubber with it, and neither felt hard to use.

My first impression was just how much it resonates.
At first I had short pips on, but the feeling of hitting wood came through stronger than the feeling of hitting rubber,
which felt a little off.
The ball comes off fast, and it actually felt pretty good with short pips, but it flies a bit too much, so if you swing too hard you end up missing long.
That's the annoying part.
Right now I'm using inverted rubber, but it just flies too much and the ball won't stay on the table.
That said, when you meet the ball just right, it's already flying forward before you even feel like you hit it, so shots like counters might actually feel pretty satisfying.
It's a bit heavy, so I imagine players who swing with both hands would need a fair amount of arm strength.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

This blade is hard. Just really hard, and it's got a lot of speed.
It bounces about as much as a carbon blade.
That said, the hardness feels a little different from a carbon blade's hardness.
When I switched over from a carbon blade (Gergely Alpha) while keeping the same rubber, I noticed that at the moment of impact there was this brief holding, sticky kind of feeling.
The thickness is also on the thinner side for a 7-ply, at 6.2mm, so I felt a bit of flex, which gave it a strange, unique feel.
That said, among pure wood blades, this is definitely top-class in terms of speed, but it feels like a wild, quirky blade with a really distinct character.
I haven't tried it with tacky rubber, but I have a feeling it would pair better with a tacky rubber that has a bit more give rather than a super hard, stiff tacky rubber.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness hard

The feel is hard lol
Really hard.
It's hard to believe this is pure wood - the feel is that hard. But I think it's a great blade for anyone who likes a hard blade, or for tacky rubber users. And the design and finish are just what you'd expect from STIGA. It's pricey, but it's a blade you grow attached to the more you use it.As for performance, the speed is amazing. Spin is a bit harder to generate, but you can make up for that with a spin-oriented tension rubber or a tacky rubber. On the other hand, it could also be interesting to use something like a Bryce Hi-Speed tension rubber on the forehand and go for a tactic where you don't give your opponent any time.
As for compatible rubbers, like I mentioned, I think it works with inverted rubber whether it's hard, soft, or medium hardness. Tacky rubber is an especially great match.
Since the ball comes off the blade fast, I think it also pairs well with short pips.
Also, putting on a spin-oriented tension rubber will inevitably make the whole racket heavier, so I'd recommend this to players who have some power.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness hard

This is a Chinese penhold blade. It's just hard, and it flies really well. That hardness feels great and gives it an indescribable feel.
The latest version even has a metal emblem design like the STIGA Emerald, and it doesn't have varnish anymore either (!)
