    Yasaka Mark V is one of the oldest and well known rubbers in the history of this sport. Originally released in 1969, this rubber helped revolutionize table tennis by proving that a heavy topspin attacking style was not only viable, but would also become the dominant style of table tennis from the 1970s all the way to today. These days, Mark V is still characterized by its grippy surface, medium sponge, and superb control. Today, it is a solid choice for beginners with an allround blade and all the way up to high level play when boosted and on a more offensive blade.

      Easy to use, above all else.
      I'd recommend it to junior high schoolers and people just about to start.
      I think you can practice almost all the skills you need right when you're starting out.

      It's a stable, easy-to-handle rubber that allows for a wide range of play.
      The rubber itself doesn't have much power on its own, so you need to swing through the ball to get any power out of it.
      I feel like the power might be a bit lacking for the modern game, but it more than makes up for that with how easy it is to use.
      It's also easy to control and handle, which makes it a rubber I'd recommend to beginners too.

      When chopping, you can keep the ball under control, and when attacking, it flies well. It's good for beginners too, but I'd especially recommend it to choppers.

      If you're after top performance from a rubber, you're better off buying something else. There are plenty of rubbers at the same price point with better performance than this.
      Honestly, the bounce leaves something to be desired, but since it has no quirks and is easy to handle, I feel like it's suited for building up basic technique.

      Even people who've stretched themselves to use rubbers like Tenergy or Fastarc might benefit from coming back to this rubber once in a while to take stock of themselves.

      I rate this rubber highly.
      My first impression was that it's a beginner-friendly rubber — it gets a decent amount of spin, and it's easy to serve with, so I thought it was a really good rubber. But the thing I can confidently say is truly amazing is the control. Whatever you do, it just seems to land on the table. If you're a beginner, please give it a try!!!

      You can play a really stable game of table tennis with this. The pushes cut really well. When you move away from the table, the sponge is soft so it's harder to get the ball to fly. Overall it's easy to handle, so I'd recommend it to first-timers.
