Yasaka Mark V is one of the oldest and well known rubbers in the history of this sport. Originally released in 1969, this rubber helped revolutionize table tennis by proving that a heavy topspin attacking style was not only viable, but would also become the dominant style of table tennis from the 1970s all the way to today. These days, Mark V is still characterized by its grippy surface, medium sponge, and superb control. Today, it is a solid choice for beginners with an allround blade and all the way up to high level play when boosted and on a more offensive blade.

To people who already play table tennis it feels soft, but to beginners it feels hard. It's a long-time bestseller and easy to use, but because it's hard, beginners often can't swing with confidence, so I feel like it's not that suited as a first rubber. I think it's good as a second rubber. Probably. For a first rubber, I'd recommend the softer Mark V 30° version, or Nittaku's Hammond. I used Hammond myself back when I was a beginner. It's easy to use and great value for money.

Nakayama (Experience: ２〜３ years) Beginner rubber

This is definitely an entry-level rubber. Eda-san, a well-known chopper, also uses it, so I think choppers can use it well. My impression after hitting with it: first of all, it's easy to control. But it doesn't produce much spin. Still, for an entry-level rubber, it's more than enough.

I'm a beginner.
I feel like this rubber has good balance. It's said to be for beginners, but it felt pretty hard to me. For power shots I think something softer would be easier to use!

This used to be said to not suit beginners, but nowadays it's a stable rubber that anyone can use well. Because it's so stable, even beginners might find it a bit lacking. If you really feel that way, switching to Vega Europe or Vega Japan can expand your range of play, while Vega Asia or Vega China can help improve your attacking skills.
Of course, if you feel more comfortable with this rubber, it might also be worth trying other rubbers in the Mark V series.
It works well both for building rallies and for stability, so it's great for people just starting out, or as a way to ease back in if you're returning to the sport after time away — definitely give it a try.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

It was the very first rubber I put on,
and the control was great — perfect for beginners!
It's also reasonably priced, in the three-thousand-yen range, so it's easy to pick up.

Honestly, it doesn't produce much spin. It's not very fast either, but for beginners who are just getting used to table tennis, I'd say it's probably the easiest rubber to use casually. I'd recommend it to anyone thinking, "I don't think I can keep using my current rubber and want to switch, but I'm new and worried about it." I'm sure it'll help you out.

Senior card (Experience: Less than a year) Maybe for beginners

Easy to hit backhand shots with, and it grips the ball well for spin too. Personally, I felt like it wears out a bit quickly.
