Since I usually use vertical-pip tension short pips rubbers, I bought this right after it came out. Using it on the backhand, thick version. My impression is that it smooths out the extreme edges and is a short pips rubber that appeals to just about everyone. Speed on hard hits is quite fast, enough to blow right past opponents untouched. Even though it's vertical pips, it's easy to put spin on, and opponents often overshoot or I can pick up service aces. It's not that you can't produce knuckle balls, but they don't come out unless you consciously go for them. In backhand rallies, opponents rarely made net errors against it. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants an easy-to-use vertical-pip short pips rubber, or a lightweight rubber in general.

It has a great bouncy feel.
It has good speed too, and overall feels like an upgrade over the 21.
Personally, since I like a harder sponge,

Smashes, topspin drives, angle shots, serves — everything is easy to pull off with this rubber.
Surprisingly, you can get enough spin on serves that opponents sometimes push the ball into the net trying to return it.

I've been using Spectol 21 for a long time, and every time a new tension short pips rubber comes out I try it, only to end up going back to Spectol.
I think this rubber keeps all the characteristics of Spectol while adding more stability for hard hits and shots played a bit further back from the table.
The crispness on angle shots in particular is exactly like Spectol. I really like that it doesn't have that odd feeling on ball release that other tension short pips rubbers have.Compared to Spectol 21, it's less likely to drop short even when you hit it the way you would with inverted rubber, but if you want to get real spin on it, you still need to use proper short-pips technique — otherwise you won't get enough spin.

Control is also easy, and I thought this was a really good rubber. That said, how far the ball flies changes a lot depending on what you pair it with on the forehand. I used it with the V15. Definitely give Spectol Red a try!

This was a free sample, so there's no purchase price to mention.
I got it as a sample and passed it on to a short-pips player at the club I coach, who tried it out for me.
My first impression was that it's softer than the original Spectol and produces more speed.
The whole rubber is soft and really wraps around the ball, so control is easy even on hard hits. Topspin drives felt easy to use too.
Serves are also easy to produce, and I didn't find anything particularly hard to handle.
I'd say this suits players new to short pips, junior high schoolers, or women's players.
It should also work fine on the backhand of a shakehand blade.
That said, if you play a fast-hitting game at an early contact point or use a lot of block-shorts, I think the Blue version would suit you better.
