Compared to a regular tacky rubber, the speed is quite a bit higher. Put it on a carbon blade and it really flies. However, compared to a regular tacky rubber, you do sacrifice a bit of spin.

You get that distinctive tacky-rubber ball, but it bounces normally too. Since it's tacky, the spin really grabs, so serves, receives and the short game were easy to pull off. I'd use it on my backhand myself, but I think it's actually better on the forehand.

There are all kinds of opinions on Shoryu, but as someone who's used tacky rubbers for a long time, my take is: even though it has a tension effect, you won't get good shots out of it unless you understand the quirks and technique unique to tacky rubbers. It's definitely easier to handle than a full-on hardcore Chinese rubber, but for good shots, heavy shots, sharp spinny shots, you still need to understand and be able to play a proper tacky rubber - otherwise Shoryu won't show its true strengths either. Don't get the wrong idea about it.

I've stuck with this one for a while now! Even though it's only slightly tacky, tacky is tacky, so the feel with your blade matters, and it happens to match well with the blade I use. Whether it works for everyone is another question. If you can't play the tacky-rubber style, you won't get the most out of this rubber. But if you can bring out Shoryu's strengths, you can get heavy spin that rivals or even beats Tenergy 05, Mizuno Q4, Fastarc, and others. Shoryu suits me best - I've gotten stronger with it than with Tenergy or anything else.

A tacky rubber made in Japan, by Japanese people, for Japanese players. It lacks the distinctive tackiness of a true Chinese rubber, but it's still carved out a niche as a very high quality tacky rubber built for the Japanese market. It's got real character to it!

Touryuu Gokuisho (Experience: １１〜２０ years) Spot on!

This rubber suits my style and swing well. I think it just won't work for some people though - probably not a great match with harder outer-type blades. For me, the combination of my blade and Shoryu was a total match! They really bring out the best in each other. No plans to switch for now, I'll keep going with Shoryu.

Rubber is a matter of personal taste, but for me this is the best rubber out there. It brings out the full potential of my swing and skill - it gives me exactly the shots I'm looking for! Fine touch shots are easy too - it's my all-time favorite rubber.
