Honestly, there's not much tackiness to it - it's more like "tacky-ish."
Full-on hardcore tacky rubber users will probably find it lacking, but I think it's good for people who can't handle a real hardcore tacky rubber to try out.
That said, after about an hour of hitting in practice, the tacky performance pretty much disappears and it becomes a normal rubber. The tension effect is still there so it's usable, but the tacky effect doesn't really show its face.
Still, my overall impression of using it was pretty good. The harder you swing and the more spin you put in, the more you get out of the ball, and stops and blocks felt quite easy to me. However, while counters where you grab the ball work well, meet-style counters lacked power, which was a bit stressful.
Also, I feel like there's variation between good and bad units of this rubber. I wouldn't expect that from a Yasaka product, but even between two black max-thickness Shoryu sheets, the feel on impact was totally different, and the sheen on the rubber surface too... one had a strong grainy texture and the other didn't. I actually used both, and while the difference wasn't extreme, the feel on impact and the grip on the ball were clearly different. Some units also had a whiter-looking surface.
Even though it's Yasaka, this made me really feel that it's manufactured in China.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

I was using a tension rubber before, but I was getting a lot of overshoot misses, so this time I tried putting this one on my forehand.
Serves come out very short with a nice, sharp bite - really good.
My pushes feel sharper than before.
My drives now draw a nice, clean arc too, and the spin has gone up.
The only thing is the speed... for smashes and the like, tension rubber is still faster.
I'd recommend this to anyone using a tension rubber who's struggling with a lack of spin or too many overshoot misses!All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Being tacky, serves, receives and drives have real bite.
The arc is fairly low. When a power drive connects, you get an incredibly heavy ball.
If you brush a loop drive properly too, the ball comes out with insane spin.
But if your form breaks down or your timing is off even slightly, it goes straight into the net.
I'd say it suits players who can move well and stay in good form.

It's not bad. But it's not great either.
In the end it feels "half-baked."
It's positioned as a rubber with both a tension effect and a tacky effect, but the tacky element is pretty thin - it's closer to tension - yet even the tension effect isn't as strong as a real tension rubber. To put it negatively, it's chasing two rabbits and catching neither. To put it positively, it's a rubber where you get at least a taste of both feels.

This is for an unorthodox all-round style using long pips.
I'd been away from table tennis for a while, but I recently got back into it and switched my forehand rubber.
Back when I was actively playing, I had Vega Asia on my forehand and had no particular complaints. But honestly, after using this Shoryu, I wish I'd switched rubbers sooner. Not just the spin on serves, pushes and drives - blocking and countering are noticeably easier too. Especially on serves, it feels like the faster your swing speed, the more spin you get.
From here this is a review just for long pips players, but I think this rubber really brings out the contrast in spin between the forehand and backhand. It pairs well with a long pips rubber on the backhand - the difference in spin makes opponents overshoot or drop the ball short, and it feels great to play with.I think I can recommend this to intermediate players and above who are trying a tacky rubber for the first time.
That said, I do think you should be a bit careful, because without first building up some technique on a tension-type rubber, you can end up relying entirely on the rubber's spin and characteristics for your playing style.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

I think this is a rubber that clearly splits opinion, but personally, it scores higher for me than any other rubber across the board. One thing to note is that it turns into a completely different rubber depending on the blade. Also, the weight varies even among units of the same rubber.
I probably won't ever switch away from Shoryu - it's become that perfect, ideal partner for me.
The short game and hard hitting are on another level with this rubber.
My backhand is also a Yasaka rubber, and it really makes me feel again why people have always said "for rubber, go Yasaka."All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard
