I used this at 1.7mm on the Japanese-style forehand of a Liberta Synergy.
It's a spin-oriented pips rubber, but the trajectory is flat, and even angled hits against underspin have enough power to punch straight through in one shot.
Drives barely slip and take a lot of spin, but since the trajectory is straight, if you like to hang back and trade topspin rallies or use drives a lot, I'd recommend going with a thicker sponge. With medium thickness, combined with the hard topsheet, I didn't feel the ball sink into the sponge much.
On blocks, if the opponent's drive had spin on it, I'd get a light knuckle ball back.
Even without trying to make a knuckle ball myself, a light push would get the opponent to net it, so I'd say this is on the easier side for producing knuckle balls among spin-oriented pips rubbers.
Serves and the short game bite more than I expected, and you can even score off the amount of spin alone.

I use this on the reverse side of my Mignon R.
After watching Ito play, I switched my reverse side from inverted rubber to Morrist SP, but the control was too difficult, so I switched to this rubber instead.
As long as you don't hit it too thin, it goes in with almost the same strokes as inverted rubber.
Since it's harder than Morrist SP, the ball doesn't sink into the sponge oddly, and flat hitting is very easy.
As for knuckle balls, they barely come out during regular rallying, but when I consciously flattened the racket angle to hit flat, or countered a fast drive, I could produce a heavy ball.
Against topspin, both speed and control are flawless. You can flat-hit, spin, or block it and it goes in easily, which widens your tactical options.
Against backspin, topspin drives are easy to pull off, so it's also easy to deal with the deep pushes that short pips usually struggle with. The amount of spin is admittedly inferior to inverted rubber, but it's enough that, if your opponent thinks it's just a normal ball off short pips, you can induce an over-hit miss.
On receive, there's not much slip, which was a relief since pushes don't float up. Stops stay short, and flicks, true to short pips form, aren't affected much by spin.
I'd recommend this to anyone except players specifically looking for maximum knuckle-ball production.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

The pips are a low trapezoid shape arranged in a vertical/hybrid layout — it's a hybrid short pips rubber.
Performance-wise it really is the best of both worlds.
The plain version had good control but the variation and speed left something to be desired; the Hard version, though, lets you produce some really nasty knuckle balls.
When you block the opponent's loop, it comes back as a knuckle ball flat enough that they'll want to push it back, and you can block speed drives and smashes without getting knocked back either.
That said, it doesn't slip when you push or drive — you can still put solid spin on the ball.
If you meet the ball squarely, the speed really comes out too, so it has plenty of finishing power.
On defense it stops the ball firmly and it's easy to add variation like knuckle balls and sidespin, while on offense the speed is there — nothing to complain about.
Since the variation comes through so well I think it's also good for backhand short pips, but because it has stability and speed too, I'd also recommend it for penhold or forehand short pips.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

This rubber really flies.
Switching over from Spin Pips Blue, I dropped from max thickness to thick, and even so I couldn't control it for the first three shots or so.
The sponge is a bit soft so the ball sinks into it somewhat, but if you use a stiff blade or catch the ball early, it bounces back sharply.
It's a speed-oriented short pips, but serves and loop drives still get plenty of spin - imagine the Spectrum Red's bounce turned up about two notches.
The smash, which is the lifeline of short pips, is quite fast too, and it's fine to use even without glue.
As for knuckle blocks, it's about on par with the Spectrum Red - neither particularly good nor bad.
It flies so much that the fine touch shots will take some time to get used to.

I didn't get that "spin grabs automatically" feeling that other reviews mention.
That said, the spin is plenty, and I never felt like it slipped off against backspin.
The bounce is also plenty, and I especially felt like there was little speed loss when hitting a chiquita.
It's not just drives — blocks and counters with a firmer, meatier contact are also easy to do, and the overall balance is really good.
If I had to name one drawback, the ball comes off it fast, so if you pair it with a bouncy blade, chop-blocks and sidespin blocks tend to fly a bit too long.
I can recommend it to any attacking-style player who already has a reasonable foundation of basics.Overall Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard
