The average weight is over 90g, so it's quite heavy.
But if you can somehow deal with the weight, it's quite a masterpiece of a blade.

It pairs excellently with short pips.
Long pips bounce a bit too much off it and are tricky to use.

It bounces a lot, but it holds the ball well, so you can hit powerful drives.
It's a good blade that will satisfy hard hitters.

  • MA LIN CARBON

    User review

I've never come across a carbon blade this well-balanced.
Normally carbon blades are strong against topspin but weak against underspin, but this one handles both just fine.
When it comes to lifting underspin balls, it's top class among carbon blades.
Even in topspin rallies, the carbon's strengths come through.
Also, since the weight is in the low 80g range, being able to put heavier rubbers on both sides is one of its strengths.
It's a blade that works with any rubber, and tacky rubbers are totally fine on it too.

That said, the short game is hard on this blade since it's carbon, and it takes real skill.
The ball comes off fast, so it flies away before you can fully put spin on it, which made it hard to use in matches, I felt.

    The tackiness is maybe medium-low.
The bounce felt about average, and it doesn't fly very far.
For drive-type techniques, brushing gives a decent ball. Trying to sink the ball in was too hard for my arm since the topsheet is firm.
Pushes are easy, and you get a sharp shot. It's a kind of ball you don't get from recent tension rubbers, so I think it can be a real weapon.
Smash-type shots fly a moderate amount, making them far easier than with a tacky rubber like Hurricane. It also produces unpredictable, wobbly balls, which I think would be devastating against junior/high-school-level opponents.
As for blocking, since it doesn't bounce much, it feels easy and stable.
I'd say the recommended level is beginner to intermediate.
Also, it might be more interesting on the backhand than the forehand. I think it's a rubber that's really easy to use and good for players who build their game around pushes and blocks.

It might just be individual variation, but compared to the Viscaria and other ALC blades, I feel like it grips the ball more. But still, it's tough for someone like me who doesn't practice much. Drives feel great to hit, but the shots I need for an actual match just won't land.
Pushes and stops float up way too much, and matches are nothing but nerve-wracking. Back in my college days when I actually practiced, I could use it, but as a working adult, a blade at this level is too much for me.
Spin performance is very hard to get since it's an outer carbon blade.
Speed is decent for a carbon blade.
Practice is super fun, matches are scary.
That's the kind of blade it is.

  • TENERGY 05 HARD

    User review

For someone who normally uses regular Tenergy 05, this is too hard.
Sure, with regular 05 you sometimes lose a point, but that's just in practice — you rarely take a full swing like that in an actual match. The power on a single topspin drive is definitely high, but the fine technical control is much harder than that. Also it's heavier than regular 05, so for a rubber whose selling point is being lightweight, that's rough. I hear Togami uses it, but this is a rubber for players at that level, not for us regular players.
The spin is stronger than regular 05.
As for speed, drives are faster, smashes are about the same.
But for the fine details, if it were me, I'd pick regular 05.
