This is the blade I chose when I came back to one-sided penhold looper play after 20 years away.
It's 7-ply, but unlike the wild, high-speed blades, the bounce is easy to control.
The forehand topspin drive has a lot of power, and backhand shorts and pushes are easy to execute.
Since the weight assumes you'll only use one side, it's very heavy, but I think that comes down to preference.
I'd especially recommend this to anyone aiming for an all-forehand style like Kaii Yoshida's.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

I'd recommend this for players who use a Japanese-style blade but struggle with maneuverability and the short game.
It also has a different feel on contact from hinoki blades, and it's on the heavier side, so it's also good for players who don't mind Chinese-style blades.
Going straight to two-sided rubber is honestly tough, so if you want to put rubber on both sides, I'd suggest a thin, light tension rubber on the backhand!Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

I use it single-sided penhold.
The blade is thick and hard, so the feel on contact is hard. It's like hitting with short pips - clack, clack. Thanks to that, the short game and push are extremely easy to do. It's also easy to smash a floating backspin ball. You don't get overpowered by your opponent's drive.
It's a wood blade, but it doesn't grip the ball on its own, so that part requires some technique.
It's a good idea to put on a rubber like Tenergy that grips the ball automatically.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

The price is cheap, but honestly, the specs go way beyond the price! At this quality for this price, I can say straight up that, in today's world of skyrocketing equipment prices, this is the best value, the most rewarding piece of equipment you'll feel you got your money's worth from! These days both blades and rubbers are expensive. But expensive doesn't automatically mean good when it comes to equipment. People these days have this mindset that an expensive blade is good, an expensive rubber is good, like it's some kind of status symbol, but that's a big mistake.
What matters with equipment is finding what suits you - that's the best choice. Considering the price and the quality, this blade's specs really punch well above its price.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness hard

I just genuinely love Yoshida Kaii's playing style, and even now when shakehand and two-sided rubber are the mainstream, I admire the single-sided penhold looper style, especially the Chinese-style penhold. So I use the Yoshida blade I admire. And of course, the rubber is Tenergy 64. I'm completely copying the Yoshida style. I'm sticking with this from now on!!

Pen holder (Experience: More than ２０ years) From single-ply to 7-ply

I'd been using a single-ply blade as a single-sided penholder for a long time, but out of curiosity, and because it was cheap, I bought this one.
What surprised me using it was that satisfying, bouncy feel. It has a different kind of springiness from a single-ply blade, and I really liked it. What I liked most is that the push, which is the defining penhold technique, might actually feel even better than with a single-ply blade. The ball just flies off the blade in an amazing way.
Also, compared to a single-ply blade it grips the ball more, so putting spin on with either hand is easier. It's a matter of preference, but even though I'd been a long-time single-ply loyalist, this 7-ply blade is fun.
