It's not as heavy as everyone says.

Right now I'm using the Yoshida Kaii blade with rubber on both sides, but I think this blade is better used with just one side! What stands out about it is that it's strong in exchanges and has a great feel! The downside is that the short game is a little hard to play — that's why I personally use tacky rubber and pips there, but I'd recommend putting a tension rubber like Tenergy or Fastarc on one side!

I bought this because I admired Yoshida's one-sided Chinese penhold style.
Playing with just the forehand is genuinely tough, though lol
I also happened to be using Tenergy 64, and it bounced like crazy.
No wonder this is the blade behind Yoshida's high-speed forehand drives.
Blocking on the forehand is going to take a lot of practice before you can land it consistently.
I only used one side, but lightweight rubbers, pips, or short pips all worked fine.

First off, the backside is a no-go. It's heavy and thick...
It's about as heavy as a 9mm single-ply blade. Put rubber on both sides and it's basically unusable, but for a one-sided penhold looper like Yoshida, I think it's actually really good.
The short game is obviously fine, and since the grip is thick, the backhand is easy to use too.
As someone who loves Chinese penhold and plays one-sided looper style, this was exactly what I wanted.
Some people say it's 5-ply, but it's actually 7-ply. I think basically any rubber pairs well with it.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

I don't think what Yoshida actually uses is the exact same model, but this is still a great blade.
The wood is thick and feels solid.
Because of that, even though the blade itself isn't especially large, it's pretty heavy.For a wooden blade it bounces quite a lot, but maybe because it's 5-ply, it's not so bouncy that shots fly out of control — it stays within a controllable range.
Since the blade is heavy and solid, you get heavy shots when you swing hard. Though it does take some swing power.
Blocking is also easy, and your opponent's shots won't push you around easily.I think this blade is really built around the idea of only putting rubber on one side.
There's no technique that's particularly hard to pull off — it's all-round capable. It also works well with short pips.Heavy, bouncy blades in a Chinese penhold grip aren't something you come across often, so in that sense you might find it a bit awkward until you get used to it.

Borrowed this from a good-looking senior teammate, so here's my review.
First off, it's weirdly hard to play the short game with this even though it's a penhold blade lol
It probably depends on the rubber too... I think it'd improve if you pair it with a rubber that's not too hard and doesn't fly off too much.This blade is really all about the forehand topspin drive! Receiving my teammate's shots, I could tell it's genuinely fast — I had to back up further than usual just to chop it. Hitting with it myself, it feels fast too.
That said, if your swing isn't fast, you won't get much spin on it. Just a heads-up.Still, the way the ball jumps off this blade feels great.

It boasts high performance in everything from the short game to mid-distance topspin drives. The short game is especially easy to play, letting you take the initiative, so I'd recommend it to anyone playing in a style like Yoshida's!
