The Mark V "family" of rubber sheets are the most famous among the top players all over the World. The aim was, when developing MARK V XS to offer a rubber with superior spin characteristics without losing too much speed. The way the Yasaka technicians achieved this is: - the balance or raw material for the top sheet was changed - some new chemicals where added - the production process is improved The result is D.A.T., D ouble A cceleration T echnology, which gives the rubber extremely strong spin possibilities and good speed.

I'm a long-pips chopper (on the reverse side).
I'd hit a wall, so to speak — I was feeling stuck in various ways, so I switched to a high-elasticity tacky rubber.
Compared to what you'd call a proper tacky tension rubber, it falls short, but compared to a cheap Chinese rubber, it's no letdown.
It also feels soft and bounces. It's tough to use in matches, but it's great for basic practice.Compared to Tamasu's Ibis, it's lighter, bouncier, and cheaper — value-for-money wise, Mark V XS is the better choice.
The base design is old, so even though it's tacky, it slips with the plastic ball, so watch out for that.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I heard it was a lightly tacky rubber, and figured that meant it would get a decent amount of spin, so I tried it.
First off, it's easy to put spin on, and it doesn't fly too far so it stays on the table.
It gets a reasonable amount of speed, so I felt like you could easily enjoy the "speed" and "spin" that make table tennis fun.
That said, the spin wasn't as strong as the "lightly tacky" label suggests. Also, if a player with a strong impact uses it, the surface quickly loses its tackiness and stops generating spin.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

Used thick, on the reverse side of a penhold.
Compared to a tension rubber, the bounce is basically nonexistent, though it obviously flies more than an unprocessed Chinese tacky rubber. But since it's soft, there's a reassuring feeling that it sinks in and pushes forward solidly even without swinging with full force.
Now here's the important part: in today's plastic ball era, dominated by spin-oriented tension rubbers and pre-tacky rubbers, Mark V feels critically lacking in spin more than anything else — but this Mark V XS, being the only lightly-tacky rubber in the Mark V lineup, manages to secure a decent amount of spin.
I think this rubber's niche lies in the stability and control of extended blocks or drives that make use of its softness and light tackiness, as well as the knuckleball effect unique to tacky rubbers.
Could I recommend it to other people? Not really — but among the Mark V lineup, this should be the one best suited to the current era.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

Used red, medium sponge, on the backhand.
It gets more spin than Mark V!
It doesn't seem to have any tackiness though.
It's easy to control and gets a decent amount of speed too.
If you want more spin than Mark V, I recommend this rubber!

Equipment refugees (Experience: ２〜３ years) Tried it out as a chopper

I put max thickness on the forehand of a Libertas Willow and evaluated it as a chopper.
This rubber itself isn't made for chopping, so it bounces a fair amount, but the blade has strong defensive capability, so even against strong drives, the ball never flew off wildly.
That said, since the sheet is soft, the opponent's hard hits sink in, and the chop tended to come back with a "boing" and a higher trajectory.
Well, I think that's within the range you can correct for with your stroke.Other than the chop, things like drives, smashes, and pushes were handled competently and stably, very much what you'd expect from Mark V.
Of course, attacking shots don't measure up to a tension rubber, but a chopper's attacks are meant to be used in combination with defense, so I don't think you need a cannonball shot.So to sum up: "If you set the blade up more toward defense for chopping, this is plenty usable for a chopper too, but there's nothing that stands out as especially great, so a chopper doesn't really need to go out of their way to choose it." Something like that, I guess?

If you put it on a chopping blade that doesn't bounce much, you can hit a slow, high-spin topspin drive, and it's fun.
