I have the thin (US) sponge on a Kokutaku Chinese-penhold blade. It exceeds what I'd heard about it — it's a rubber that makes it very easy to put spin on drives and pushes. The ball leaves the racket quickly, yet it still feels like it's held onto for a moment. If you go with a thicker sponge, you'd probably feel that holding sensation even more. On top of that, you can easily produce knuckle-ball blocks. It's a genius of a rubber.
The thick version is probably for advanced players, but with a thin sponge, I think it's a rubber I'd want beginners to use too.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

This is for single-sided penhold use.
The first time I put it on,
I thought, "A short pips rubber like this exists!?"
and was genuinely impressed.
The bounce is really good,
and the spin is unbelievable!
It gave me the illusion of
"wait, is this actually inverted rubber?"
It's an all-rounder that can do everything,
and was quite easy to handle.
Just my personal take,
but rather than a blade with a soft feel,
a harder blade

This is the most popular short pips rubber out there.
Opinions are split between this and the Booster, but this one has a horizontal-pip spin style and fairly large pips!
By the way, the Morrist has vertical pips.
I put it on the back of my Nittaku Violin and test-hit with it.
First off, even switching straight over from inverted rubber, you can use it without any weird feeling.
The defining feature of this rubber is that, despite being short pips, the amount of spin is amazing!
Pushes get incredibly heavy backspin.
If you adjust the angle, you can get proper no-spin balls too.
Blocking is surprisingly easy to stop the ball with, and the more spin there is, the more it comes back as a knuckle ball.
It's easy to drive with too, and easy to counter with.
It's a rubber you can use on both forehand and backhand.
If I had to name a downside, it's controllable and finishes close to an inverted rubber, so sometimes it doesn't feel very "short pips"-like.
Also, personally, the sponge is soft, so I'd like it made a bit harder.

An opponent I played against in a tournament was using this, and it's fast. I also think it's on the spinnier side for a short pips rubber, so I found it hard to deal with. I think it's stable on both forehand and backhand (my opponent flipped their racket a lot).

I have it on my forehand, and the spin is good, and hard hits have plenty of power too.

This was the first rubber I ever bought, back in my second year of junior high.
I think it's easy to control and does pretty much what you want it to.
