Up until now, tacky rubbers always gave me the image of being "hard," "not bouncy," and "heavy," but Xiang Long isn't that hard, bounces decently, and isn't heavy, so I think it's a great rubber. Even though it's called tacky, it's not that sticky - it's more like a light tack. Right now I'm using Xiang Long on both sides. Before that I was using G1 on both sides, but since switching to Xiang Long it's become easier to put spin on the ball. It's true it doesn't bounce as much as G1, but it bounces more than a typical tacky rubber, so I'd recommend it.

This rubber is great to switch to when moving on from a tension rubber. The sponge is a little firm, but the topsheet is very soft, so I don't feel any lag when hitting. Like a lot of people say, the speed on a full swing is insane. Once you get used to it, even normal drives produce heavy balls, so it's awesome if you want power. The only downside is the tack isn't very strong, so it's a bit annoying until the tack builds up... but once it does, it really goes wild, so keep in mind that Xiang Long doesn't show its true colors until it goes wild.

I think this fits players who use tension or high-elasticity rubbers and want to add even more spin, or who care more about spin than speed. That said, if you don't brush the ball with this rubber you won't get speed and the ball tends to come out flat with no spin, so it's really only usable if you're a topspin-drive type player. On top of that, without a decent swing speed it's hard to produce good, heavy shots, so I think it's suited to players with a style like a top-tier player.
On the backhand the bounce is weaker, which actually makes blocking more stable, so if you use your backhand drive a lot this could surprisingly work well for you.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Overall, you get insane amounts of spin. The moment the ball lands in your opponent's court, it really kicks forward!
- Short game
Starting with serves - backspin, sidespin, and side-backspin are all easy to produce. You can use the sponge's bounce to disguise a no-spin (knuckle) ball as backspin, and if you cut it flat or at a slight angle, you can produce really sharp backspin. You can control the spin depending on how you cut the ball.
It also comes through nicely when you want to really put spin on stops and pushes.
There's really nothing about the short game that's hard to do with this rubber.If you're using a heavy tacky rubber like Hurricane and your serves keep dying into the net without flying at all, why not try Shoryu? The sponge has enough bounce to properly launch a ball with insane spin on it, so you can get it in reliably.

Overall, you can produce balls that are hard for your opponent to handle. Being tacky, it's a bit hard to hit really fast shots, but the amount of spin more than makes up for it. When you drive, the ball dives down sharply and becomes hard for your opponent to deal with. Even on serves, even when your opponent reads the spin, the ball is still hard to return. Among tacky rubbers, this one is hard and has a lot of spin. If your swing isn't fast and you don't have much power, you might not be able to make the most of it.
I'd recommend this to anyone who just wants a ton of spin, or wants to induce mistakes from their opponent.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Hard

This is a review for choppers.
First off, chopping with a tension rubber takes a fair amount of time to get used to.
A tension rubber just flies off the blade, but with a tacky rubber, if you don't really let the ball come in close before hitting it, you won't get any spin on your chops.
The short game feels very tacky, so it's really easy to play.
You can also switch between a really sharp cut serve and a normal one.
Drives get plenty of spin, but since this rubber has a bit of a Chinese-rubber character to it, you need to be a little creative with how you hit.

Weekly table tennis (Experience: ４〜５ years) Slightly tacky rubber with great power and value

Used black, max thickness, on an outer ALC blade.
The first thing I noticed using this was how nice the feel on impact was. The sheet is a bit soft, and even though it's only slightly tacky, it has that same solid grip-on-the-ball feel as a genuine Chinese rubber, which made loop drives feel really easy to pull off. Players used to hitting with real hardcore Chinese rubbers might have mixed feelings since the sheet is on the softer side, but because the sponge is fairly hard, I think you can bring out the rubber's full potential.
For attacking shots, it's the opposite of a genuine Chinese rubber - it has a bounce you wouldn't expect from a Chinese-style rubber, with a side that feels like a tension rubber too. The ball comes off at a fairly high angle and naturally draws an arc, which is nice because you can swing forward with confidence, but if you don't catch the ball cleanly it goes straight into the net. I think pairing it with a wood blade would bring out even more stability. Maybe because I paired it with a carbon blade, but surprisingly, meet-style shots were also easy to pull off.
The rubber itself is a bit on the heavy side, so if you're not confident in your power, I'd recommend the softer, lighter Kiryu instead.
