I bought mine with rubber already attached on both sides for 5,000 yen tax included, found it at a major sporting goods chain store.
The feel is like it wraps around the ball, so you can hit it fairly carelessly and hard and still get a stable topspin drive. Maybe because of the weight, if you swing all the way through you get plenty of power too. My unit came with Flextra (medium sponge I think) on both sides and weighed 170 grams. If you put a max-thickness or thicker trendy spin tension rubber on both sides, it probably won't come in under 180 grams. Compared to other attacking blades, I'd say this one is quite heavy - the blade is also on the larger side. That's the tricky part for someone without much power like me. I think it suits a powerful player attacking with heavy topspin from mid-distance. For the currently popular fast, close-to-the-table style of play, I feel like a smaller, lighter, more reactive blade would be better.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

I used this all the way through high school.
The speed and spin are a step below more expensive blades, but everything else is more than solid.
It's also very cheap at around 5,000-6,000 yen, so I think it's great value for money.
Not just beginners - intermediate players, and depending on the person even advanced players, should be able to use it without feeling like the performance is lacking.
Since it's a carbon-free 5-ply, the feel is such that you can really sense catching the ball and generating topspin.
It's the perfect blade for beginners to develop that feel of brushing the ball.

First off, it's cheap.
These specs at this price are unbeatable.Honestly, this is more than enough even if you're competing at a national tournament.
If you can't land topspin drives with this racket, it's basically time to quit table tennis - that's how easy to use and versatile it is.You can put short pips or long pips on it, anything works.
If you put the effort in, you can even chop with it.The ball-holding feel is outstanding.

The spin is decent, but the control is very easy to use.
I tried chopping with it too and it holds up fine there as well - it's truly a jack-of-all-trades blade.

I started out with 5-ply blades, then moved to carbon and other composite blades, but ever since switching to the Korbel my mistakes have gone down.
This is a really good blade.
A lot of people are after more speed and flight, but
the Korbel gives you plenty of speed on its own, and your control gets better too.
It's fun to nail a winner with a fast blade, but in table tennis what matters is getting the ball onto your opponent's side of the table. The fun of controlling the ball is what this blade is all about.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Soft

A long-selling Butterfly 5-ply blade. This was my partner back in the celluloid ball days.
Whether it's because of a change to match the new ball rules or not, it's got a stronger kick than it used to.
This blade's flex and its ply construction make it especially good for spin. It's easy to loop the ball up, so it's manageable even with fast, flat-trajectory speed rubbers.In my SWAT review I wrote "if the Korbel isn't enough for you, go SWAT," but honestly the Korbel has more power... sorry about that.
