Getting back into table tennis after a long break as I've hit middle age, I picked up a classic set close to what I used to play with back in the day.
Compared to today's 7-ply and composite blades, this one is very mild-mannered, but it's perfect for really feeling the rubber and blade grip the ball.
It's classified as an attacking blade, but by today's standards it feels more like a versatile Off-~All+ type blade.
It's a gem, and it's easy to see why it's stayed a bestseller for so many years.
It's also good for training the feel of driving the ball with your whole body, for anyone whose form has gotten a bit too arm-reliant thanks to how much modern equipment helps with bounce.As the heading says, the grip is just wonderful.
It's a flat shape, like a squared-off ST with the edges slightly rounded, and it fits the hand really well.

It doesn't bounce as much as the image you'd get from the catalog specs, but it holds the ball well and makes it very easy to put spin on. The blade size is a bit on the larger side, and it has a decent amount of weight. You'll want to watch the total weight when mounting a heavy rubber.
The speed isn't especially fast, but as long as you swing all the way through, heavily spun drives go in reliably. The short game is also very easy to put spin on. Personally, I felt that just blocking without adding anything tends to get pushed back, with little pace on the ball. Blocking while adding your own spin close to the table gave me good results. Also, it wasn't just my imagination that chiquita is easy to do with this (lol)
Both the bounce and the spin depend a lot on the user's own power and ball touch, so it's a blade where your improvement really shows.

Comparing it to the Acoustic.
Feel: about the same, both good.
Spin: about the same or maybe slightly more.
Speed: a bit weaker.
The grip is easy to hold and has little play, so it fits well.
The curve on the grip side of the blade doesn't hit your fingers, so it doesn't hurt.
Topspin drives arc nicely and land cleanly on the table, and it's easy to control.
The smash has more than enough power, so I never felt it was lacking. It doesn't have a ton of speed though.Overall, I felt it's affordable, easy to use, and holds up well even compared to more expensive blades.

The Korbel has a slightly larger blade and a great balance of spin and speed as a 5-ply blade. Because of that, it's really solid on both offense and defense, and I feel like it brings out the best in whatever rubber you put on it. Also, the grip is thick like the Viscaria, so you can hold it firmly, which means no stress at all while playing.
But what you need to watch out for, as the title says, is that this blade has huge individual variation. The performance really changes depending on weight — the mid-80g range has muted speed like a chopper's blade, the mid-90g range feels like an inner blade, and once you get close to 100g it has speed closer to an outer blade, so I'd recommend picking the individual racket that suits you. Also, even at the same weight, the darker the top ply color, the more speed it tends to have, so this is something that comes down to personal preference.
Personally, I found that a blade around 90g, slightly lighter than average with a top ply that isn't too dark, was the best for me since it's easy to swing through and balances spin and speed nicely.

I'd wanted to try this one for a while, and
the quality of the backhand chop is just excellent! The trajectory stays low and lands well.
I never thought I'd be able to pull off such a beautiful, thread-like chop.
The blade is small, so it's easy to swing all the way through, and being able to take a full swing without hesitation is another plus.
Personally, I'd recommend pairing it with super-thin Feint Long 2!Controlling the forehand is admittedly tough, so you basically need to make a point of swinging down from high to low.
That said, if you're the kind of modern chopper who specializes in defense rather than mixing in a lot of attacks, it shouldn't bother you that much.Another good point is that it gives you the feeling of actually "hitting" the ball across every technique.
I've tried 7-ply and composite blades too, but nothing beats the reassurance of a 5-ply.The grip is also easy to hold.
For a chopper, this is a moving experience you can get, rubber included, for under 10,000 yen.
The value for money is just too good.A long-time bestseller for a reason.

I use pips on my backhand with a shakehand grip.
First off, the match with pips is outstanding! You can block and attack freely with pips, and forehand topspin drives and smashes come out with great power too!
Other reviews say it's heavy, but I don't really feel that much weight. If anything, the ball feels just heavy enough in a good way,
and you can trade topspin rallies from away from the table without any trouble, so I can recommend it for any playing style! Though it might be a bit heavy for penhold pips players...
