First, what I really like about this blade is the grip — it makes chiquita and backhand shots genuinely easy. Since it's thick, you can hold it firmly, and even backhand blocks don't get pushed back.
I use tacky rubber on my forehand, and as long as you've got a reasonable amount of strength, I was able to win rallies even against university-level and adult competitive players, so if you have the strength for it, I'd recommend tacky rubber.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

It's an outer blade, but the feel on contact is soft.
The ball comes off fast, so if you don't swing all the way through, it gets away from you.
The grip is on the thick side and comfortable to hold, which makes backhand techniques easy to do.

Revive Biscaria (Experience: ６〜１０ years) The best racket I've ever used

The Viscaria was the first special-material blade I ever bought... I still use it, and since I love older gear, I bought a bunch before it got discontinued lol. Anyway, onto the main topic — this is discontinued now, but personally I feel Rasant Power Grip fits amazingly well on the forehand side. Above all, that distinctive grip Rasant's sheet has on the ball seems to match the Viscaria incredibly well. Serves bite so well you can basically score points off the serve alone lol. Drives carry well, so they land in reliably even from away from the table. Counters from close to the table have great spin and speed, it's fantastic. Pushes bite and go deep. The short game is beyond complaint. With the 05, chiquita especially bites really well. And drives from away from the table — that's just amazing, I can't even put it into words. I really want the Viscaria to make a comeback. The closest blade to this one has to be the Zhang Jike ALC.

When the Viscaria first came out, the original version cost 10,000 yen. It was the first blade to use ALC, and it combines spin and speed at a high level. This blade's real value shows in extended rallies. Against the opponent's spin, you can overwrite it with your own and send the ball back with intense spin of your own. That comes from how well the Viscaria holds the ball, and compared to other ALC blades (Timo Boll ALC, Zhang Jike ALC, Iolite), the feel on contact is noticeably solid. There's no sense at all of the ball flying off on its own — you clearly feel that you're hitting it with your own power. It's also used by many of the world's top players, mostly Chinese men's players. That alone proves just how excellent the Viscaria is.

First, as far as outer blades go, this one falls into the fairly easy-to-handle category.
Probably because it uses arylate carbon, it's not the kind that flies uncontrollably. But it's not soft either.
I'll say this outright: it's still an outer blade, so even if you put tacky rubber on it, you won't get much spin, it won't fly, control will be bad, and there's no point spending a lot of money on it that way.
Stick with tension rubber.
Ratings by technique, out of 10:
Drive... 9
Speed and spin are great, produces really good shots. Plenty of carry too.
Just watch out, if you muscle it too hard the ball flies off.
Smash... 9
It has that outer-blade snap to it, and it's very easy to smash with.
Block... 5
Not easy. This isn't the kind of blade that absorbs the opponent's power, so the ball flies out a fair bit. If you can't get the angle right, it's rough.
Push (tsuttsuki)... 4
If you try to cut it, it flies too long, and if you just make contact it floats up — not stable either way. Hard to do.
Stop... 7
This one was oddly easy to do. It stops short nicely, which is satisfying. Same as before though, if you put too much force into it, it flies off.
Overall... 8
I think this would suit a player with 3+ years of experience, someone who can win a couple matches at a prefectural tournament.

You can't get it in Japan anymore, but Chinese men's players use it a lot — Zhang Jike, Lin Gaoyuan, and so on.
It has arylate carbon in it, so of course the speed is there, and it also holds the ball reasonably well, so it's easy to put spin on too!
The control becomes stable once you get used to it.

Back when it was sold in Japan, I test-hit it many times, and I even had custom blades made from Viscaria blade wood.
I think every ALC blade out there today basically started from this one.
Timo Boll ALC, Timo Boll Spirit, Zhang Jike, Zhang Jike ALC, Kenta Matsudaira ALC —
if you trace any of these blades back to their roots, they should all lead back to the Viscaria.And I think the grip is what gets the most praise on this blade.
The grip is a little thicker and a little wider than usual, so it doesn't shift around in your palm and gives a solid, secure hold.
People often describe it as a grip that makes the backhand easy to hit, and I think that's because there's no gap left in your palm, so power transfers well when you swing on the backhand side.
It's currently discontinued in Japan, but it's still sold overseas, so it's relatively easy to get hold of. Price aside, there's no high barrier to buying it, so if you feel like this grip is the only one that will do for you, you'll find real value in it.
That said, personally I don't feel this blade has any especially strong characteristics apart from the grip, so if you're not particular about that, I think a Timo Boll ALC would satisfy you just as well.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard
