Hurricane Long 5 adopts 7-ply aryl-carbon fiberboard with Pith-Film tech, offering great power and stable control. It is continuing Ma Long’s quick and changeable style featuring swift shift between attack and defense. In the upcoming 2014, a new era of new material T.T.balls, HurricaneLong5 will be the top choice of Ma Long.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
Highly regarded as Ma Long's signature model, it excels in combining superior elasticity and spin despite being an inner material. However, overall evaluation varies significantly depending on rubber selection and playing style, with excellent compatibility with sticky rubbers being the consensus.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Remarkable speed and elasticity unexpected for inner material
    • Exceptional spin performance when paired with sticky rubbers
    • Slim grip provides excellent operability and stable play techniques
    • Tension rubbers cause excessive speed making control difficult
    • Requires advanced skill level, unsuitable for beginners
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveDespite soft ball feel, the bounce is extraordinary, and combining with sticky rubber achieves both power and stability in drives. The slim grip enables delicate ball touch, and this Ma Long signature truly realizes premium balance.
▽ CriticalToo fast for beginners. Quick ball release makes spin application difficult, and compatibility with tension rubbers is poor. Fine-point errors occur frequently, making it challenging to win matches except for elite players.

I put Hurricane NEO3 on it, and
it bounced way more than I'd expect from a tacky rubber.
I normally use a Viscaria with Tenergy, and even compared to that this still felt pretty bouncy.
Not that I'm defending the Chinese players, but
if you put booster on NEO3 and the Hurricane Long 5, I don't think the ball will stay on the table. And if you try to hit a topspin drive on top of that, it'll go out even more.

Bounce: The construction is an inner-carbon type, but it bounces about as well as an outer blade. Also, even though it's an inner type, the ball's trajectory is flat and straight, so I got a lot of net misses with forehand tension rubber. Light taps make a "poko-poko" sound and don't fly much, but topspin drives are a totally different story and fly really well. That said, if you don't always commit to a proper full swing, you'll hand your opponent an easy ball.

Spin: Ball-holding and spin amount are a bit less than solid wood, but more than an outer blade. It feels a little hard, but you can still generate a good amount of spin.

Grip: Oval and fairly flat, which makes it easy to switch your grip.

Weight: It's heavy even as a bare blade, and gets quite heavy once you add rubbers. I think it would be a bit hard to handle for kids or women.

Other: It's not sold in Japan, so you can only get it through full import, which makes it pretty difficult (and pricey), but I think the performance is satisfying enough that it's worth buying.

ice (Experience: 4〜5 years) If you use tacky rubber

      Player reviews

I put Hurricane NEO2 on the forehand, and the bounce didn't feel like a tacky rubber at all. Part of that's the tacky rubber itself, but the blade also makes it easy to generate spin, so you can produce balls with plenty of spin too. Counters were excellent as well.
What surprised me most, though, is how well it pairs with long pips. It's easy to attack with, blocks stay well controlled, and spin bites nicely.
Up to this point it sounds perfect, but of course there are downsides. Since the ball flies on a flat, straight trajectory, it might be tough for people using tension rubber on the forehand.
The price is on the higher side, but if you play forehand tacky rubber or penhold pips, you should definitely buy this!
By the way, I bought mine from Fortune Shop.
      Sorry for the long post.
