This is my main blade — I'm using the old model, #17. I've seen it used at the All-Japan Inter-University qualifiers, and I've also seen strong high school players from powerhouse schools using it at local open tournaments, so I really feel how popular it is.
The construction is ALC with an ayous core, and the top sheets are two layers of limba, exactly the same as an Inner Force ALC, so the hitting feel and control are almost identical. To begin with, an inner-ALC construction is quite close to solid wood, so even when you hit hard, unlike a ZLC, you don't get that "the material flies flat on its own regardless of what you want" effect, so control isn't a problem.
This blade weighs close to 90g, and once total racket weight goes past 190g it suddenly becomes tough to compete at a high level in tournaments, so the rubbers you can realistically use are somewhat limited. If you put on high-end German rubbers over 50g like Rasanter, Super Ventus, Omega, or the Q series, swinging it becomes a lot of work all at once. Also, even among tacky rubbers, the Pro Turbo series comes in at close to 56g per sheet, so it's wise to avoid those too.
In conclusion, I'd recommend looking for rubbers in the 46-48g range — Tenergy, G1, and Hurricane Neo3 being representative examples — and building a racket that comes out around 185g total.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

It's soft but flies like crazy.
But since it's an inner blade that makes spin easy to generate, it stays stable too.
The grip is a bit thin, so it'll probably split opinion.

Sticky ski (Experience: ６〜１０ years) Way too much potential

Comparing it against the same rubber on an Inner Force Layer ALC.
This unit is 88g bare, 202g total.
- Light taps
Softer than the Layer ALC. The feel is more ZLC-like. When you put power into it, you feel a powerful sense of stored energy.
- Drive
Hitting hard makes you realize this is on a different level. It bounces well while still drawing a deep arc, giving the impression it lands in places the Layer ALC just can't reach. The aggressive tip-heavy balance seems to be boosting the power.
Even hitting against backspin, the ball rarely catches the net. Trying to loop it up instead feels like a waste.
- Block, counter
Because the grip is thin, it's easy to square up the racket face, and you get stable blocks. For counters, it's more stable if you counter-spin the ball into your own shot rather than just blocking it back.
- Short game
No worse than an inner ALC. My honest reaction was "it bounces this much, so why does the short game still work?" It's a mystery. For flicks and chiquita, rather than trying to flick the ball out, it feels better to use the ball-holding and put spin on it.
- Serve
Since it's tacky, it bites well. You can produce a genuinely good serve with it.Overall review
The potential is way too high. It doesn't feel like I'm fully drawing out its specs. There's absolutely nothing to complain about performance-wise. Both attack and defense are perfect.

I borrowed a Hurricane Long 5 custom-order grip W963 from a friend, and it's a totally different animal from the one I normally use, lol. Every single technique comes out better on the W963. Even on the forehand it bounces from the moment you hit it, and when I tried a drive, apparently the ball quality was way too heavy. Even though it's a Hurricane, it goes in on a flat, straight trajectory. The backhand bounce is surprisingly restrained — since my backhand impact is on the lighter side, it doesn't bounce much for me. It has speed comparable to an outer blade. Even though it's a Hurricane, there were a lot of overshoot misses, so it's a bit hard to keep stable.

I test-hit my current gear setup. On light taps it doesn't bounce much, but once I hit a topspin drive, the bounce was great, the spin bit well, the ball carried through, and I was told the ball felt heavy. It hums through the air and comes in low into the opponent's court. It carries really well after landing on the table, and my opponent seemed to have trouble handling it. On the backhand, even a light touch sends the ball flying. The blade itself bounces quite a bit, so you'd think it lacks stability, but as long as you commit to spin properly it goes in fine. It pairs really well with Back G1. Chiquita comes out stable while still having speed, and mid-distance backhand drives are stable too. It feels a bit off to only write good things, so as for weak points: the compatibility between blade and rubber matters a lot, and the top sheet of the blade is hard, so if you don't make a solid impact the ball comes out flat and easy to counter. But that's about the only weak point I could find — I think it's a really great, high-performance blade.

My forehand has always been Hurricane Neo3, so I won't say anything about that.
On the backhand, pairing it with Tenergy 80 gives the best feel.
I went looking for a rubber that makes a nice sound with this blade, and tried: V15 Extra max thickness and thick, V15 Stiff thick, V7 Large max thickness, Tenergy 80 thick, max thickness, and Q5 max thickness.
V15 Extra max thickness is too hard.
The thick version feels good.
V15 Stiff thick is a bit soft.
V07 Large max thickness is way too soft.
Tenergy 80 thick feels really good.
Max thickness feels better than thick.
Q5's sheet is a little soft.
In the end, Tenergy 80 max thickness is the best.
It makes a sharp, high-pitched sound and blocking is really easy with it.
It's Tenergy 80, so the performance goes without saying.If you value the hitting feel most, I'd say go with Tenergy 80.

I used a tacky tension rubber and it flies like crazy! I'd heard the Xiang Long naturally flies a lot, but it also gives surprisingly good spin. The trajectory is surprisingly flat and it stabs deep into the opponent's court. Since it's a hard rubber, it's also easy to mix up your pace. I think it works well whether you put it on solid wood or a special-material blade, though it might be too hard to suit an outer blade.
