I reviewed the Long 5X before, but I've since changed rubbers, so here's a follow-up review.
Forehand is National Hurricane 3 Blue sponge, thickness 2.2, hardness 41 degrees; backhand is Neo Provincial Hurricane 3 Orange sponge, thickness 2.1, hardness 37 degrees.
As for the hitting feel, it's still soft as ever.
Thanks to that, even with unboosted tacky rubber, it doesn't feel too hard to handle. Spin is easy to generate.
Even hard topspin drives come out with solid power even with unboosted rubber. Changing rubbers also made the short game even easier.
This is just my personal feeling, but I don't think tension rubber is a good fit for this blade. Even with my current rubbers I get quite a few overshoot misses, so I'd still recommend sticking with a low-flying rubber.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

This review is for the Long 5X, not the regular Long 5.
The bare blade is 88g, and with rubbers attached it comes to 184g. I'm comparing it against an Inner Force Layer ALC with the same rubbers.
Forehand hitting: Even at this stage the ball already goes deeper than with the Layer ALC, yet the hitting feel is actually softer than the Layer ALC.
Drive: It's soft and holds the ball well, so both loops and hard drives are easy to execute. In particular, a one-shot kill drive has more power than on the Layer ALC — really satisfying.
Short game: About as easy as the Layer ALC. Stops, pushes — there wasn't any particular technique that felt hard to do.
Overall: This is a god blade. The performance justifies the high price. It pairs excellently with tacky rubber.
If you're a Ma Long fan, I'd definitely recommend giving this a try.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

So, I originally had Hurricane on both sides, and the hitting feel, spin, ball carry, and overall compatibility with the blade were all amazing!
But then I played in the national junior high tournament and couldn't keep up with the fast pace, so I gave up on Hurricane... I tried to lighten up my rubbers and ended up with this combo!
For the forehand I went with Tenergy 05, which gives clean spin, and for the backhand I wanted something harder so I went with 09C!
05 lets counters and early-timing drives settle right onto the table, which feels great ♪
Also, the serves rip with spin just as much as Hurricane did, so the pairing is excellent!
Honestly, the backhand doesn't have to be 09C specifically.
I tried a bunch of other options too, and they all worked well enough that it was actually hard to choose, lol.
My backhand is my strong side, so I picked 09C because I wanted something harder there!
Total weight is 198g, but you can't swing it without power, lol.
I lent it to a friend and all he could produce were flat, easy-to-counter balls — it just didn't work for him at all, lol. I think it comes down to preference, but I'd say it's worth trying at least once!

Bought it on Mercari for 16,000 yen.
I've only had it for 3 days, but here's my impression (comparing it to the Yinhe Venus 14 I used before).
The difference was already clear on forehand hitting — with the Venus 14, the first bounce landed around the middle of the table, while with the Hurricane Long 5 it went all the way deep into the court.
For drives, if you want both stability and power, go with the Hurricane Long 5; if you only care about drive power, go with the Venus 14.
For blocking, the Hurricane Long 5 wins — the ball settles down nicely, while with the Venus 14 the bounce was all over the place.
The Hurricane Long 5 was also easier for pushes — you can put a lot of spin on it and skim it just over the net. The Venus 14 also has plenty of spin, but it feels like the ball comes out about one ball-width higher.
I made the Venus 14 sound kind of weak here, but it's still a plenty high-potential blade in its own right.
Overall, both blades have high potential, but I'd say the Venus 14 suits beginner-to-intermediate players who want to get into carbon blades,
while the Hurricane Long 5 might be better recommended for intermediate-to-advanced players already used to carbon (my own skill is still a work in progress, so don't take this too seriously lol).Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness Little soft

After using a ZJK ALC for a few months, I decided to buy a new blade to try out, and went with the HL5.
I've already been using it for a few weeks, and I really like how thin the grip is and how perfect the control is.
Neo Hurricane 3 on the forehand gives me confidence playing both close to the table and further back.
Tenergy 64 is perfect for smashes and serve returns.

This is a Long 5X unit — smaller blade, thicker core, thinner face sheets — weighing 89g. Total weight is 194g, so it's 7-8g lighter than before.
I already felt the previous model was softer than an inner ALC, but this one is even softer.
Even with Turbo Blue I can grip the ball and control it. There's a noticeable difference on counters and blocks, where the ball comes out higher and more stable. Drives also arc higher, so you'll barely get net misses against either topspin or backspin. Meet-style flicking shots got a bit harder to pull off — though that might just be my own arm.
It's the same story with Dignics 80 — you can play with confidence putting spin on the ball on both forehand and backhand. If you can't get enough speed out of a tacky rubber, this blade might work fine for that too.
With the blade size change, stops and serves generally feel easier to execute overall.
Personally, my confidence went up, so I have a good impression of it. That said, I do feel it's a bit slower than the old Long 5. Even so, it still bounces about as much as an outer blade and generates even more spin than that, so I'd say it's fair to call this an improvement in balance.This is a blade I'd recommend trying for aggressive all-rounders who play close-to-mid-distance and use a lot of technique, or for anyone who doesn't feel confident with the flat trajectory of outer blades.

There's info out there saying it's an inner ALC, but it's actually a ZLC. The top sheet is on the softer side and holds the ball well. True to the "Hurricane" name, it pairs excellently with tacky rubber. The grip is on the thin side. Personally, it felt just right once the total weight passed 200g. Even if you don't go all the way to 200, I'd say you want at least 190. Tacky rubber just doesn't bounce without enough weight behind it — at least that's how it felt to me personally. With the Ma Long lens design and everything, this is an irresistible piece for Ma Long fans!!
