The combination of the D.TecS technology and the classical Grass provides absolutely new varieties of the undercut and cut defence. The built-in tension in the rubber surface and sponge makes the pimples more elastic and enables an incredible undercut. Excellent control and enough speed to counter the adversary‘s disturbing attacking balls.
Now available in 0.5 and 0.9 mm!
- Long pimples
Players use Grass D.tecS
- Exceptional spin reversal and automatic ball transformation with minimal player input
- Unusually high speed for long pips, delivering sharp pushing and smashing shots
- High tension causes excessive bounce, requiring extensive control practice
- Low spin sensitivity makes blocking and cutting strokes remarkably stable
- Advanced rubber requiring experience; not recommended for long-pips beginners

In today's environment where anti-spin rubbers are banned, this is the long pips rubber with the biggest change in spin. Its ability to reverse spin dramatically just by touching the ball is a weapon no other rubber has, but because it's a tension rubber, the ball leaves the surface quickly, so you'll likely struggle with control until you get used to it. Also, since it reverses spin automatically just by contact, it can feel lacking for players who like to control the on/off of spin themselves.

This is a rubber that any unorthodox-style player can use.
The pips are on the soft side so they bend easily, which makes blocking easy. But attacking is also easier than expected.
It suits penhold pips, shakehand pips, choppers, anyone. It's a great rubber that doesn't even need a specific blade. All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I'm using the 0.5mm version.
· Chop
It doesn't get affected much by spin, but maybe because it has some bounce,
you'll get a lot of overshoot misses until you get used to it.
That said, its ability to change and reverse spin is top class among long pips.· Push/short push
A cutting push is hard to pull off.
If you're not careful it basically comes out as a knuckle ball,
so opponents tend to target it a lot.Even at 0.5mm, the push can be fast and sharp.
But it lacks stability, so it's hard to aim your return at a specific course.
This is a rubber that basically throws away stability and goes all-in on unpredictability.
Even at 0.5mm it bounces quite a bit and it's hard to cut a push, which is the downside,
but in exchange, as mentioned above, the change and reversal ability is extremely attractive.Personally I think of it as an upgraded version of the Curl P-1.
Recommended for anyone aiming to be an aggressive chopper! All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

Since this rubber is a tension rubber, it produces speed! And the reversal ability is really high too
! Chops bite really well! Counters are doable too. As for control, I can manage it myself, but people not used to long pips won't be able to handle it. Compared to the P4
spin: P4 < Grass, speed: P4 < Grass, stability: P4 > Grass
reversal ability: P4 < Grass, ease of attacking: P4 > Grass, that's roughly how it feels.
Grass becomes a real weapon once you get used to it. I'd recommend it to intermediate choppers who use long pips! All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

Kyoto Leopard User (Experience: 2〜3 years) The variation is amazing even compared to Curl P1

I really think this is an amazing rubber.
Even compared to Curl P1, which has the most variation among domestic long pips, the amount of variation on this one is on a whole different level. I think this might be the rubber with the most variation that currently exists.
That said, this rubber has one drawback - the bounce is too strong. Anyone used to low-bounce long pips will probably feel a bit thrown off at first.
As for looks, the pips aren't especially tall, but they're very soft and the spacing between them is surprisingly wide. I think that's the secret behind the amazing variation.
As a long-pips user, I think this is a rubber worth trying at least once, but at around 5000 yen, a lot of people probably hesitate. For those people, I'd recommend a long-pips rubber called Dragon Talon from a maker called Kyoryu.
You can get it for around 1500 yen, and as far as I know, it's the closest rubber to Grass D.Tecs out there. This one is also a tension long-pips rubber with more variation than Curl P1.
Think of Grass D.Tecs as this Dragon Talon made to bounce a bit more and given a bit more variation, and that should give you a good idea.
Anyway, Grass D.Tecs is truly a wonderful rubber. All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

Middle school pen grain (Experience: 2〜3 years) The variation is amazing, but...

I switched over from Curl P1R. Curl P1 is also famous for its amazing variation, right? But Grass D.Tecs is even more than that. The trajectory is low, and it bites hard...
From the opponent's perspective, I think it's an extremely hard long-pips rubber to deal with. That said, if I just block against the opponent's knuckle serve, it floats up and gets attacked...
(That's on my own lack of skill though...) I guess it's the effect of the tension - floating seems to be a characteristic of it.
But if you can overcome this "floating" tendency, I think the sharpness, trajectory, and nastiness are top-class among long pips. I want to practice a lot and become a nasty penhold-long-pips player, lol.
As for the blade, mine has Texalium material on the inside, so it flies a bit too much. So I'd recommend a 5-ply wood blade or a defensive blade.
Sorry for the long post. All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft

I felt it was easy to either flatten the pips or keep them upright, depending on what I wanted.
The chopping ability bites really well.
Angled shots are totally doable too.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft
