It's a classic go-to for beginners, but nowadays something like andro's GTT is easier to use and cheaper too, and I think it would let a beginner build the form and feel suited to modern table tennis better.
I felt the Sriver series is actually more of a niche-fit rubber - pairing it with an off-beat rubber or using it for chopping, that kind of thing. You could turn the fact that it's fairly affected by the opponent's spin to your advantage, using a receive that keeps some of that spin on it to induce mistakes. The control feels like THE classic beginner's rubber.
No bounce to speak of, about the same as Nittaku's Japan Original.
Don't expect much out of flat hitting.
It does get spin, sure, but it just doesn't last long at all.
It stops gripping the ball pretty quickly.
I think it's fine as a first rubber, but for a second rubber I think you're better off with something else.
Mark V or Vega Intro are the same price, so I'd recommend those instead.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Hard

I'm using a hand-me-down SK7α, and drives are really easy to hit and chops are easy too, so it's easy to use overall.
