The surface has really strong grip on the ball, and the sponge feels like it catches the ball once and then adds energy before launching it — you can really feel the high spec.
The ball comes off fast, so if you just block on the backhand without swinging, it turns into a straight, spinless shot.
I felt that really sinking the ball into the sponge and adding spin was the minimum requirement to use it well.
That said, when you do swing through, you get a fast ball with just the right trajectory.
It might actually work better on the forehand for beginner to intermediate players.I'd say the best approach is to start with the Hexer Grip at the same hardness, and switch to the R45 once you feel it's not quite enough.

This rubber is a medium-hardness rubber with a hard topsheet — something like Tibhar's Evolution EL-S feels very similar. The Rasanter series, being a German-style rubber, tends to feel unstable against underspin drives unless you swing through firmly. This R45 is no exception — I felt that driving against underspin works best with a firm swing. On the other hand, despite being a soft rubber, pushes and stops land really well on the table, which I think comes down to the topsheet's strong grip.

I think thick or above is the way to go for thickness.
Power, spin, and control are all well balanced.
No matter what shot you hit, it feels like it lands solidly on the table.
If you want to try the Rasanter series, I think this is a good one to start with.

I put the 2.0mm version on a Harimoto ALC at 48g.
The sheet is hard, so it feels harder than 45 degrees, and it produces the straight, flat trajectory typical of the Rasanter series.
On loop drives that make a high arcing trajectory, the amount of spin wasn't that much, but hitting with a lower trajectory generated more spin.
For drives, digging into the sponge rather than just brushing the sheet produced shots that were harder for opponents to handle.
Swinging upward still goes in, but swinging forward produces a better shot; because the trajectory is so straight there's some fear of hitting the net, but trust the rubber and swing forward.
Also, the sponge is soft but the sheet is hard, so pushes don't float, and flicks are easy to do too.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Spinning Drive Man (Experience: １１〜２０ years) Pretty good?

Against topspin, if you hit it hard it tends to fall into the net, but the speed isn't much different from the 48.
The amount of spin on loop drives is fairly low, but it's easy to get the ball up.
Power drives against backspin are easy to execute.
The short game is generally easy overall too.
Countering is easy since the ball doesn't pop up too high.
The sheet is strong, so my counters never fell into the net.
The lifespan isn't short either, so I don't think it's bad.

Before this I was using C48 UR Max, which has slight tackiness. My impression from using it on the forehand was that the way the ball leaves and flies is totally different from a tacky rubber. When lightly hitting on the forehand it felt pretty good, like it might suit me, but the moment I hit a drive, that impression completely flipped — the ball speed was incredible! So much speed! It really flies! Still, since I was coming from C48 before, the feel was quite different. The ball also felt like it went noticeably shallower than before. But the moment it hits the table, the ball extends, which really shows it's a tension rubber. For hitting against backspin, you still have to generate a lot of the spin yourself, so it's not an "automatic" type of rubber. When I tried it on the backhand, it suited my backhand very well. Easy to use for meeting the ball.
