    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
The racket receives high praise for easy spin generation and user-friendliness, while some users find its weight problematic during extended play. It is recognized as a well-balanced mid-level 7-ply racket that offers better power and ease of use compared to Swat.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Excellent spin generation with deep, powerful drives
    • Pleasant impact feel with crisp, clear sound feedback
    • User-friendly flare grip design for comfortable handling
    • Heavier weight causes reduced reaction speed in longer matches
    • Superior control and ease of use compared to Swat racket
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveThe ball extends significantly after touching the table and is difficult for opponents to return. Spin is easy to apply and the racket is very user-friendly. Excellent cost-performance and a masterpiece racket.
▽ CriticalDespite being supposedly slightly harder than Swat, there is little noticeable difference in characteristics. As a 7-ply racket, it feels somewhat mediocre lacking the unique qualities of comparable models.

I want to become table tennis stronger. (Experience: Less than a year) Very easy to use racket

      Player reviews

This is the first blade I bought. Personally, I like blades that have some heft and are made of wood plies, so this one is really easy for me to use. The rebound is very high, which is a downside in that it can be hard to handle, but if you use a proper form you can produce really good shots. Both serving and receiving are easy to do, and I think it works with either inverted or short pips rubber. By the way, the feel is on the harder side.

Mizutani John (Experience: 11〜20 years) Compared to the Swat

      Player reviews

Since there are so many Swat users out there, I bought this as something closer to it. Rubber compatibility probably plays a role too, but compared to the Swat it feels a bit harder, without any major difference in character. Compared to the Forteus FT and the Clipper Wood, it feels like a somewhat middle-of-the-road 7-ply. The Swat, even as a 7-ply, feels almost like a 5-ply, with the distinctive trait that the 7-ply character only shows up when you really strike the ball... This one doesn't quite have that, but it does feel like good value.

EK (Experience: 6〜10 years) A must for those who want to enjoy driving!

      Player reviews

First off, the flared grip is really comfortable to hold. It goes from slim to a bold flare, giving a sense of security I hadn't felt before. I could also feel the weight of the blade while still swinging through easily.
The feel has a bit of a ring to it, and there's a distinct moment where you can feel the ball on the blade. Both the grip and the feel left a great impression, and when I hit a topspin drive with high hopes, it came out heavier, sharper, and faster than I imagined — it felt amazing.
The short game is easy to handle, blocks stay stable, and overall I have no complaints about this blade.

The popular Swat gives an impression of high stability and power, whereas the Altero feels like it has high power along with ease of use. Because of that, the ball can get a bit wild at times, but when you swing through properly, the topspin drive feels great.
It's a bit on the heavy side, but I'd recommend this 7-ply blade for combining power with ease of spin.

      Really easy to use.
The topspin drive still goes in even when I back off the table.
I can get solid spin on it too.

Yokotsumi (Experience: 6〜10 years) This should sell way more

      Player reviews

I bought this for the design and I haven't found it hard to use at all. When I put a bouncy rubber on my backhand I started overshooting more, but since it's a thinner 7-ply, spin comes really easily. TSP's best seller is the Swat, and this one is maybe 1000 yen more expensive, but if they were the same price I think this one would actually sell better. It's thinner than the Swat so I find it easier to use. That said, if you feel the Swat bounces too much already, this might be tough unless you tone down the rubber's bounce.

This is my first time buying a straight grip from TSP. My old Nittaku Kasumi Basic was really slim, so the Altero feels pretty thick to me. I also have the Jun Mizutani ST, which is angular, but the TSP is rounded, not flat at all, and feels the most natural to hold. The one letdown is that the front and back sides feel slightly different in the hand, so I end up flipping it around to use it the "wrong" way. I guess that's just how it is even with Japanese-made blades, so I've let it go.

The feel was softer than I expected. It seems easier to handle than the Swat, and it's easier to get spin on than a 5-ply like the Korbel. Despite that, it makes a nice high-pitched sound that feels really satisfying. This blade is a bit pricier than the Swat so it doesn't stand out much, but personally I think it's a hidden gem.
