My impression after using it is... it just doesn't bounce at all!!! Like, I wondered if it was even supposed to be a speed rubber, that's how little it bounces, but thanks to that I get good control, so as a balance it might actually be pretty good~

Spectrum Blue → Spectrum Red → 388C-1 → Spectrum, and now I've come back to the Spectrum I used back in junior high.
Personally I love the feel of the thin sponge version and find it easy to use.
Unlike tension rubbers, the ball doesn't sink into it on its own, it's easy to brush the surface, and there's no feeling of the ball flying off by itself, so it's easy to give it a light touch.
It also gets a decent amount of spin, but I think its biggest advantage is that even balls with no spin look like they have spin on their trajectory.
Since I play a close-to-the-table, fast-attacking style, a non-tension rubber does mean a drop in attacking power when I try to drive through the ball, but its ease of use makes it easy to ride the ball and gives me confidence over the table, so for creating openings that lead into an attack, I think this rubber has the edge.
Short pips on the backhand are weak against a long, fast backspin serve to the backhand, but with this rubber it's easy to just touch the ball and drop it near the opponent's net, so I think a non-tension rubber is easier to use for anyone with short pips on the backhand who struggles with backhand topspin drives.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Spin-related techniques like topspin drives are a bit difficult, but it's a rubber that produces a lot of knuckle balls and can induce misses. Since it doesn't bounce too much, I think anyone who understands how to use short pips can drive with it fairly easily. It doesn't produce much variation, but in exchange it's an easy-to-use short pips rubber. There's not much of a sliding sensation, so you can hit topspin drives with confidence. The power of a single shot is on the low side, but I think it's good to use on the backhand, or mainly for blocking and hitting. Chops are stable too - overall it feels like a rubber that prioritizes control over variation.

Barely more than a beginner (Experience: ４〜５ years) The very definition of short pips

As the title says, this is a classic vertically-pipped speed-oriented short pips rubber. I used the medium thickness, so the bounce wasn't huge and the distance was modest, but the initial speed off the racket was really good. My impression is that switching to a thicker sponge would give you plenty of bounce and distance too. What's nice about this rubber is that knuckle balls come out naturally without me even trying, yet it never feels like the ball is sliding off, and if I focus on it I can still get spin on my pushes. Compared to tension rubbers the speed drops off a bit, but it has no extreme weaknesses and still has plenty of short pips character, so it's a wonderful rubber I can recommend to choppers and attackers alike.

An all-around rubber that works for both attacking and chopping.
Personally, I found chopping easier to do with it.

I switched from inverted rubber to short pips on my backhand, and I got used to it quickly - it was easy to use. Compared to tension rubbers it doesn't produce as much speed and feels easier to counter, but it's easy to vary the pace with, and it's a rubber that opponents really hate facing.
