  SPINATE

  

  The pip shape on the sheet is very similar to Booster SA.

  Structurally, it feels like "a Booster SA with more elasticity."

  Because the ball comes off faster, the amount of spin is lower than SA.

  
  The sheet grips the ball well, so you don't get flat, straight balls or knuckle balls the way you would with something like Moristo SP.

  That said, it doesn't produce heavy spin like Booster SA or Hexer Pips either.

  
  True to Yasaka's rubbers, you could call it "well balanced," but

  personally I feel it's kind of "in-between" and middle-of-the-road (lol).

  Since it's a short pips rubber, I feel like it could stand to have a bit more of its own character.

  
  Rather than chasing that classic short-pips feel, I think you'd get more out of "stable attacking play" by pairing it with an outer special-material blade and swinging away freely.

  シートの粒形状が、ブースターSAに良く似ています。

  構造的には、「弾性を上げたブースターSA」みたいな感じ。

  球離れが早くなったせいでSAよりも回転量は低くなっています。

  
  シートの引っ掛かりは良く、モリストSPのような直線的なボールや、ナックルは出にくい。

  だからと言ってブースターSAや、ヘキサーピップスみたいにガッツリ回転がかかるわけでもない。

  
  ヤサカのラバーらしく、「バランスが取れている」とも言えますが、

  個人的には「どっちつかず」な中途半端な印象(笑)。

  表ソフトなんだし、もう少し何か特徴があってもよいのでは、と。

  
  表ソフトらしさを求めるよりも、アウターの特殊素材ラケットで、ガンガン振っていった方が、「安定した攻撃」を生かせるでしょう。

  HOUO 7ply plywood

  

  For a wooden blade, this is really bouncy.
  I'd put it around the upper end of Mid-Fast to the lower end of Fast.

  The blade is thin, so you get a sense of the ball sinking into it, but at the same time it has a solid core feel and doesn't lose out on power.
  It's like a Korbel Speed made harder, with more bounce.

  It's hard and quick off the blade, as you'd expect from 7 plies, but it grips the ball beautifully, so the consistency on meet-style shots is outstanding.

  
  If you're putting on inverted rubber, I'd recommend something a bit softer, or a rubber that emphasizes holding the ball.
  I put on a Spin Tension at German hardness 47, and it flew off a bit too fast.
  Next I tried 45, and the spin and speed matched up into a really nice drive.

  
  Armstrong is known for the Attack 8 series, but on the blade side of things they're pretty minor.
  The Houou itself has been out for decades already, but I was surprised to find such a hidden gem that still holds up perfectly well in modern table tennis.

  木材のラケットではかなり弾みます。
  ミッドファーストの上位～ファーストの下位、くらい。

  板が薄く、球持ちが感じられる一方で、しっかりと芯がある感じで、力負けしません。
  コルベルスピードを硬くして、弾みを上げた感じ。

  7枚らしく硬めで弾きやすいのですが、絶妙に「球を持って」くれるので、ミート系打法の安定感がバツグンです。

  
  裏ソフトを貼るなら、少し柔らか目、あるいは球持ち重視のラバーを推奨します。
  ドイツ硬度47度のスピンテンションを貼りましたが、やや早く飛び出しました。
  次に45度を試したところ、回転力とスピードがマッチしたドライブになりました。

  
  アタックエイトシリーズで有名なアームストロングですが、ラケット方面では、相当マイナー。
  鳳凰自体、もう発売以降何十年も経っていますが、現代卓球で十分に通用する、こんな名作が眠っていたのか、と驚きました。

  Tenor

  

  I liked the Acoustic, so I had some expectations, but the feel is a different animal entirely.

  The feel is indeed similar, but it's more dull and muted.

  There's some flex too, but that's also on the modest side.

  I'd guess both are tuned to feel just right for high school or college guys with fast swing speeds.

  It's on the heavier side, and the blade also absorbs shock well, so blocking feels stable.

  
  Overall, it's like an Acoustic that's given up its versatility to specialize purely in topspin drives.

  アコースティックが好きだったので、少し期待していましたが、打球感は別物です。

  確かに似た打球感ではあるものの、鈍い打球感。

  しなりもありますが、こちらも控えめ。

  どちらも、スウィングスピードが速い、男子高校生や大学生が振って、丁度良い感じに設定されているであろうと推察されます。

  重めで、なおかつ板の吸収力もあるので、ブロックには安定感がありますね。

  
  汎用性をなくし、ドライブに特化させたアコースティック、といった感じです。

  True to a German tension short pips, the sheet has good grip, so you can put quite a lot of spin on serves and drives.

  On the other hand, the pips are shaped for speed, and since the hardness isn't too soft either, if you hit it flat you get a slick, gliding knuckleball that holds up well even against something like the Spectol.

  It was a rubber that made knuckleballs easy to produce in a way no other German short pips does.

  
  The balance between spin and variation was really good, so it's a shame it got discontinued.

  Maybe it lost its place once the Spectol Red came out.

  ドイツテンション表らしく、シートはグリップ力があり、サービスやドライブなど、かなり強い回転が出せます。

  その反面、粒の形状が、スピード形状となっており、硬度も柔らかすぎないため、フラットに叩けば、スペクトルなどと比べても遜色ない、滑るようなナックルボールが出ます。

  他のドイツ製表ソフトにはない、ナックルが出しやすいラバーでした。

  
  回転と変化のバランスがとても良く、廃盤になったのが惜しまれます。

  スペクトルレッドの登場によって、立ち位置を失ったのかもしれませんね。

  CREA（OX）

  

  First, the blade needs to be a 5-ply wood blade, and a thinner one at that — that's a must.
  Otherwise you won't be able to control it and its character won't come through.

  With that in mind, this is a really interesting rubber.

  The ball just sits on it so well.
  It has a kind of ball-holding feel you don't normally get from an OX rubber.
  Even though it's OX, the ball arcs nicely. You can loop easily.

  When you hit flat, true to an OX rubber, the ball comes out nasty and flat.

  For blocking too, you can return almost anything just by touching the ball.

  Receiving is also very easy.
  You can push the ball in by adjusting the angle, flick it flat, add a bit of spin — you can do just about anything.

  If you're used to short pips, you should be able to pick this up right away.

  
  That said, obviously there's no real bounce, so it's not suited for an attacking style.
  There's no ball speed, so while you can create a speed difference with your forehand shots, it ends up being a straight, flat ball with no life.

  Even used defensively, it doesn't give you the kind of variation that lets you win points outright.

  In the end, I'd say it's for forehand-dominant players who move around a lot and use it to create chances, or for players with backhand pips who want to shift to a slightly more aggressive style.

  まずラケットは5枚合板でなおかつ薄めが必須です。
  そうでないとコントロールできませんし特性が出ません。

  それを踏まえた上で、とても面白いラバーです。

  とにかく球持ちが良い。
  1枚ラバーではこれまでなかった球持ち。1枚なのにボールが弧を描く。簡単にドライブがかけられます。

  叩けば1枚ラバーらしく直線的にいやらしいボール。

  ブロックも当てるだけで何でも返せます。

  レシーブもとてもやりやすい。
  角度合わせて押し込んだり、パチッと払ったり、ちょっとかけたり、何でもできます。

  表ソフトに慣れた人なら、すぐに使えるようになるはず。

  
  ただ、当然ながら弾みが無いので、攻撃型として使うには不向き。
  球速がなくフォアとの球速差は付けられますが、棒球になってしまいます。

  守備的に貼るにしても、点を取れるような変化は出ません。

  結果的に、動き回るフォア主戦型がチャンスメイクで使う、バック粒からやや攻撃的に移行したい人、くらいでしょうか。
