The Timo Boll ALC is the blade of choice for the European Triple Champion, Timo Boll. Timo working with Butterfly’s technicians, helped design his new blade which offers a touch more speed than his previous model but still allows for the production of the heavy topspin strokes Timo is known for.
Using his new blade along with Butterfly’s new Tenergy rubbers, Timo successfully defended all three of his Titles at the 2008 European Championships. Timo plays fair and wins and so can you. The Timo Boll ALC offers the maximum blend of speed, heavy spin, and Control.

I thought this felt pretty similar to the Innerforce Layer ALC. I think that's because they both use the same arylate carbon, and the performance is quite similar too. The Timo Boll flies a bit more and gives a bit more speed than the Innerforce. The grip is also a little different, so I think it's best to actually hold it and decide for yourself. It suits pretty much any playing style, so I can really recommend it for its balance of offense and defense. You really shouldn't regret buying it...

I used Hurricane rubber with it. Thanks to the ALC, I didn't get any weird, erratic balls. My impression is that it feels like a tension rubber that only goes in if you use Chinese-rubber-style technique. You have to take the ball right at the peak of the bounce for it to go in, so if you're someone who uses Hurricane rubber, I'd recommend not using this blade. I'd recommend using a soft tension rubber instead.

I tried other ALC blades, but I always end up coming back to this one because the balance is so good. A famous coach once described Tenergy as being like your go-to neighborhood ramen shop, and that's exactly the situation here. Lighter weight, spin, the way the ball moves unpredictably, the short game, chiquita, serves, rallies, blocks, counters - it's high-level at everything. The way the ball leaves the blade is spot on too. No loss of power. It doesn't hold the ball too long, so you can use it exactly the way you picture in your head. It's been out for a good number of years now, but I still think it's the definitive blade.

The blade makes up for the slowness of Hurricane Pro 3 Turbo Blue tacky rubber - basically the blade covers for the slow tacky rubber. This is actually the first time I've changed blades, since my old one broke yesterday, but I'd already decided my second blade would be carbon. At first I was going to get the Zhang Jike T5000, but it wasn't in stock at the table tennis shop and I had a tournament in 3 days, so I ended up picking the fastest blade they had in stock, which is how I got this one. Also, my short pips already have a lot of bounce, so combined with the carbon it gets pretty nasty (in a good way). On top of that, I think this blade pairs really well with tacky rubber.

With tacky rubber on the Timo Boll ALC, the arylate carbon makes it easy to get spin and generates good speed, so I think tacky on both sides works well too.
The weight is pretty crazy, but I'd recommend it for hard hitters.

The feel is hard, and the ball comes back in a straight line. I'd been using the Innerforce ALC before, so naturally it took some effort just to get spin on the ball.
To put it positively, it's a blade that makes it easy to hit low-trajectory balls that are hard for opponents to handle, but I felt you really need to be at a prefectural-tournament level to make full use of it.

The price of this blade has changed since I bought it.
But I think it's worth what it costs. Butterfly discontinues a lot of blades, so this Timo Boll is definitely a long-seller.
I bought mine back in 2012. It's 2021 now, so I think that shows it's loved by players all over the world.Over 20 years ago Butterfly released arylate carbon, and the first one I ever used was the Kong Linghui Special, a player I really respect. Back then there were hardly any blades priced over 10,000 yen.
That was also my first time trying an anatomic grip.I think getting spin on the ball is the most important thing.
It makes a sound like there's some kind of booster on it, and you get real spin.
It also pairs well with Rasanter.No issues with loop drives or hard-hit drives.
However, when I hit flat, meaty shots, I often ended up catching the net.I think you can play the short game over the table without any problems too.
Some people might not like it, but the anatomic grip might be what makes it easy to handle.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard
