The Timo Boll ALC is the blade of choice for the European Triple Champion, Timo Boll. Timo working with Butterfly’s technicians, helped design his new blade which offers a touch more speed than his previous model but still allows for the production of the heavy topspin strokes Timo is known for.

Using his new blade along with Butterfly’s new Tenergy rubbers, Timo successfully defended all three of his Titles at the 2008 European Championships. Timo plays fair and wins and so can you. The Timo Boll ALC offers the maximum blend of speed, heavy spin, and Control.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
This racket receives overwhelming support from advanced players as a high-performance option. It excellently combines the speed of outer carbon with rotational control, showing particularly strong compatibility with hard tension rubbers. However, beginners find it difficult to control, and most reviews emphasize that adaptation time is essential.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Exceptional balance of speed and spin performance
    • Best compatibility with hard tension-type rubbers
    • Recommended for intermediate to advanced players
    • Versatile for all techniques including quick attacks
    • Fast ball release requires control adjustment time
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveA rubber that can do everything from start to finish, with excellent speed, spin, and control. Once accustomed to it, players can execute virtually any shot. The compatibility with tension rubbers like Tenergy is exceptional.
▽ CriticalPlayers without solid fundamentals will struggle with lack of power, producing flat shots. The fast ball release typical of outer carbon means beginners cannot control the ball before it leaves. Adaptation time is a prerequisite for this racket.

I switched from the Jun Mizutani (discontinued).
I feel like the speed has gone up compared to before, and the ball travels in a straighter line. It feels like the ball stays on the blade a bit longer than with ZLC.

Even now, this is a blade everyone loves!
It suits any rubber, and every technique is easy to pull off!
Especially over the table, the bounce and how well the ball stays on the table are both amazing!

      I switched from a 7-ply blade.
      The feel is relatively soft.
It pairs well with hard rubber.

Comparing it side by side with the Freitas, I thought this one had a slightly softer feel!
So it pairs excellently with harder rubbers.

      Player reviews

It feels like the definitive outer-carbon blade.
Among outer blades, I'd say it's an easy-to-use one that lets you get good spin and good speed.
Personally I prefer 7-ply or 5-ply wood blades, so I really struggle with the carbon feel and how fast the ball leaves the blade, but for people who already use outer blades, or for stepping up from an inner blade, I think this is ideal.

Unless you have quite a lot of skill, you can't control it. You end up in what people call "being used by the blade" or "hitting purely off the rubber's performance."

That said, since Boll himself actually uses it, I think it's fair to say the quality is top-tier.
It could also be fun to deliberately try pairing it with a quirky rubber.
