Ma Lin EXTRA OFFENSIVE is a fast 5-ply blade developed in cooperation with Ma Lin. The very hard outer veneers are combined with selected Scandinavian pine veneers to give the blade power. The thick, medium soft center veneer helps to give the blade the very good ball feel, appreciated by technical offensive players.
Produced in the famous blade factory in Tranås, Sweden.

Using the ST handle.
The grip is a bit squared off, so people may be split on whether they like it.
It's a light 5-ply blade, but it has quite a bit of bounce.
Also, the harder top ply makes it easy to generate spin.
If you want a light blade but aren't into special materials, while still wanting some bounce, this could be a good option to consider.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

This blade grips the ball well for spin and has good control, so I'd recommend it as a starter blade for penhold players with a drive-attack style. It doesn't have that much bounce, so blocking is stable.
For me, someone who was considering switching from Japanese penhold, I just couldn't get used to that hollow, popping feel, so it never became my main blade.

I'd been using TSP's Artero, but after switching to this blade I get the same power even though it's lighter. It grips the ball for spin really well too, and my serves rip hard. Drives are easy to hit and the short game is easy too. I think this is a blade anyone can use, from beginners to advanced players.

When I was replacing my blade, a friend advised me that "a pro model or an expensive blade is a safe bet performance-wise," and that's why I picked this one. Being a pro model, it really does make every technique easier. I'm running short pips (high-elasticity) on the forehand, and even at medium thickness it generates plenty of speed, so I don't think you need to go with tension rubber just because that's the trend now. When you catch the smash or the backhand smash dead center, it's lightning fast! (lol) Such an addictive feel! That said, it's definitely not a light blade, so if weight matters to you, picking the right rubber takes some trial and error. Even so, I'm really satisfied to have found such a good blade. If this still isn't enough, or once you're a fairly advanced player, I guess the next step would be the 7-ply Extra or the Ma Lin Carbon? I normally play hardbat, but I also bought this to use for large-ball play.

I think spin and control are what characterize this one. So even with a forehand rubber that doesn't put on much spin by itself, you still get a decent amount of spin!
But this time it was Hurricane rubber, so the spin was outrageous.
Balls with underspin were also easy to hit with a topspin drive!

Among all-wood 5-ply blades, this one stands out for its bounce and hardness.
The grip is short, so the balance point sits closer to the tip, which also makes flat hitting easier.
