Ma Lin EXTRA OFFENSIVE is a fast 5-ply blade developed in cooperation with Ma Lin. The very hard outer veneers are combined with selected Scandinavian pine veneers to give the blade power. The thick, medium soft center veneer helps to give the blade the very good ball feel, appreciated by technical offensive players.
Produced in the famous blade factory in Tranås, Sweden.

This is a shakehand blade.
It has good control like you'd expect from wood, and serves and the short game stay under control too.
I felt it really shows its true value when you use a snappy hitting motion close to the table. It also pairs well with short pips, and you can just knock the ball back crisply.
I also used it with inverted rubber on both sides, but I think a flat, snappy hitting style suits it better than one that piles on spin. Once I stood further back from the table, it was tough going since I don't have much arm strength.
After that it went to a friend who plays short pips on the backhand, and he liked it so much he used it right up until he retired.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

The feel of this blade is soft.
I'm running short pips on it, but since the top ply is on the firmer side, you can either snap the ball off it or really sink the ball in and hit through it. Just like people say, every stroke is easy to control.
For counters, you can sink the ball into the blade and hit it back, so I'd recommend it to anyone who likes to hit with their own power!
That said, there's quite a bit of variation between individual blades.
Some come out extremely light and some extremely heavy, so I think you can't go wrong as long as you pick based on the weight and feel you're looking for!

I used to use a 7-ply blade because I wanted power on my shots, but I noticed I was overshooting a lot when I went for full-swing drives in matches, so I picked this blade with its toned-down bounce instead.
My shots are simply stable now, and the ball goes in no matter what stroke I use.
My drive overshoot problem went away, and my return rate went up.
The power feels a bit lacking, but by practicing with the idea that "the power in a shot comes from using your whole body," if you use your body correctly, you can still hit a shot that blows past your opponent.
You can feel the flex of the 5-ply construction, which makes it easy to put spin on the ball, and it also stabilizes the defensive techniques I personally value most — pushes and blocks.
Up until now I'd been aiming for one big winning shot, but since switching to this blade, my table tennis has shifted toward a rally-based mindset.
I take fewer forced risky shots now, and I've been able to play the kind of basic table tennis where you "smash the balls you can put away, and return the connecting balls with an emphasis on stability" — and that's let me beat senior players I could never beat before.
It also pairs well with the spin-oriented tension rubber I use, and the balance between power and stability is good.
It's a world champion's blade, but I think it's a good blade that emphasizes stability while still delivering power.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

It's an all-purpose blade — there's no technique it can't handle.
As you'd expect from a Ma Lin blade.That said, since it's a 5-ply, I felt some people might find the speed and power a little lacking.

If you're going with a 5-ply blade, the Ma Lin Extra is without a doubt outstanding. The hardness, flex, and bounce are all just right — no complaints compared to any other maker's wood blade. It pairs well with rubber too — there's no rubber, inverted, short pips, or anti, that doesn't work with it.
If you're going to start using wood, or going back to wood, the Ma Lin Extra is the best of the best in wood blades.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch Hardness little hard

This is a review of the blade Ma Lin uses — it pairs really well with tacky rubber!! Honestly, the speed is no different from Vega. But the spin is absolutely insane and the arc is crazy. I've never seen a blade like this. Why not give the Ma Lin series a try too?

Coming back to table tennis after more than 20 years, I chose this as my first blade.
I started with Mark V rubber, which was quite easy to handle and control. But over time I got frustrated that it didn't fly enough, so I switched the forehand to Vega Europe, and it started flying quite nicely.
When you catch the ball dead center, the feel is the best.
However, the one drawback is the weight. I bought a 91g one, but maybe because the balance leans toward the tip, it felt even heavier than that.
Because of the weight, and wanting even more bounce, I moved on to a 7-ply blade, but it's one I'd like to try again once I've improved.
