The new VO > 101 is a very fast and dangerous short pips-out rubber with built-in High Energy Tension Technology. The long experience of our Japanese pips-out exper ts and the know-how of our German researchers (GJ Tec) resulted in a high-tech rubber which leaves nothing to be desired for aggressive pips-out attackers. The new rubber sheet with optimized pips geometry produces a great pips-out effect, and the flat trajectory of the ball will put your opponent under pressure. The elastic sponge combined with our High Energy Tension Technology opens up new dimensions of speed development in the pips-out segment.

You can produce knuckleballs, and if you swing fully, you can also put a fair amount of spin on your drives. Thanks to the softness of the sponge you get a real sense of holding the ball, so among speed-oriented short pips rubbers, it's relatively easy to add spin on serves too. I think it suits a hard 7-ply blade or one with special composite materials. That said, if you hit with a half-hearted impact, the ball just slides off the surface and drops.

The biggest feature of this rubber is that it turns into a serious knuckleball while still having real power behind it. Just blocking an opponent's drive at the right angle turned the ball into enough of a knuckleball that you could see the mark on it. For smashes, if you open the racket face well and picture catching the ball right behind its center, you get amazing shots. That said, I think it takes some time to get used to. You have to set your angle more carefully than with other rubbers, or your misses will pile up. Once you get used to it, the soft sponge lets you control the ball really well. It also lifts underspin easily and chopping is surprisingly manageable. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants both knuckleball effect and attacking power and can set a solid angle when hitting.

It's a very soft rubber, but with the plastic ball it doesn't feel too soft.
Against an opponent's drive, it naturally turns into a knuckleball.
Whether you push, flick, or hit, it comes out as a knuckleball.
Its stopping ability is also excellent, like a soft variation-type short pips rubber. Since it's a tension rubber though, it doesn't feel as unpredictable as a true variation rubber — though that probably depends on the blade too.Speed-wise it's tension-level, but it responds well to hard hits.
Sometimes it has that flying-off or dropping feel you get with variation-type short pips, but on the other hand it's soft enough that once you get a feel for hitting the ball, it's stable enough to go in even with a casual swing. All Speed Spin Control Hardness Soft

Using it on my forehand, I've noticed the smash has plenty of speed and power. But for some reason it doesn't seem to travel very far, so if you get pushed back away from the table it could put you at a real disadvantage.

Every kind of backhand receive is easy to play with this. You can block back even fast shots, and while you can't put spin on the ball, you can smash using the same motion as a chiquita.

I switched over from Spectol Speed, so let me compare the two. This one is better in terms of speed, power, and how easily it produces knuckle balls. That said, it bounces quite a lot, so if you want less bounce, Spectol Speed or a spin-oriented short pips rubber would be better.

Rallies get fast. The ball tends to travel in a straight line easily. It also comes out almost like a knuckle ball, so you can confuse your opponent with variation and speed.
